High School Orchestra Set for Carey Institute Program

On February 23 the High School Orchestra performs at the Carey Community Institute. Afternoon and evening sessions feature Two Guitars Dark Eyes Gold and Silver Waltz Spring Time Value and Hope March. Ensembles include a Brass Quartet and a Mute Trio with solo pieces and classroom performers.

Lutheran Missionary Societies Lenten Services Begin

The Christ Lutheran Chundh missionary societies announce joint Lenten services at 7:30 p.m. on each of the first five Monday evenings starting February 27. Theme titled Prayer of Blessing. Several members will conduct the services. all women of the church are invited.

Red Cross Drive Planned in Upper Sandusky Area

Rev G Crawford Culp pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky is reappointed Red Cross fundraising chairman for the 1950 campaign in Wyandot County by the county executive board. County quota set at 5197 with drive March 6 to April 1. Town quotas captains and solicitors to be announced.

First Kroger Manager Donates to Arby Red Cross Drive

On Monday Lloyd Kolhoff, manager of the local Kroger store, left a check at The Carey Times for the Red Cross drive starting March 6. All Wyandot county Red Cross workers are asked to meet at the headquarters in Upper Sandusky at 7:30 p.m. Monday for supplies and instructions. Carey drive chairman has not been announced.

Revival Services At Oak Grove Church

Revival services at the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren northwest of Carey began Tuesday evening and will run through Sunday March 5. Rev H E B Schmul of Conneaut will conduct the meetings and his wife will lead the song service. The public is cordially invited.

Carey High School Hosts Two Evening Variety Shows

A three day program at Carey High School features a Thursday afternoon and Friday evening schedule led by Robert Mott and Leo J. Bernard with the High School Orchestra performing instrumental numbers. The events include a Playlet, puppetry, Dramatics and a door prize drawing with extensive student and community participation, plus committee rosters for nominations, entertainment, and exhibits.

The 1950 roster includes Leo J. Bernard as president and Robert Mott as vice president with Mrs. William Cole as hostess. The Carey Junior Chamber of Commerce starts a service where volunteers place a tag on expired meters after depositing a nickel. Casper Scalia arranged the tags via Seiberling Rubber Co. Return from South trip ends with family visits

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bloom and Mrs. George Gardner traveled through 16 states returning Monday evening. They stayed with Gene Bloom in Gwilfpont Mississippi and with Nell Follette in DeLand Florida. They visited Miami and Key West and stopped at Cypress Gardens and Bok Tower. In Wilmington Delaware they spent two days with George Gardner Jr and his family.

Wyandot county must undergo a real estate reappraisal soon after the state board of tax appeals ruled the county has not had a mandatory appraisal in six years. The board charged urgency at a recent hearing and ordered one to be held forthwith.

Carey Kiwanis Club Highlights Youth Talent Program

The Carey Kiwanis Club hosted a Boys and Girls Committee program featuring high school students from the speech department. Thelma Claggett directed with Marianne LaRoche, presenting a one act playlet, two musical readings, two monologues and a pannomine piece. Junior Kiwanians showed full attendance.
