About 200 volunteers in Wyandot county plan door to door visits on Heart Sunday to spread heart health information and collect Heart Fund contributions. City council considers new rates for Ohio Fuel Gas Co
The council approved first reading of an ordinance to set new gas rates based on 33.52 cents base fuel cost. Rates start at 25 cents per 100 cu ft for 1 300 cu ft, 7.05 cents per 100 for next 98 700 cu ft, and 6.8 cents per 100 for above 100 000 cu ft with a $2.50 minimum. If passed on March 18, bills from June 1, 1963, will reflect the changes for a 3 year term.

Race horses die in Seneca County fire
A barn on the Ralph Fertig farm near New Riegel in Seneca County was destroyed by fire last Wednesday. Five race horses owned by Joseph Bookmyer Jr of Tiffin perished, along with his 1926 Dodge mail truck. Firefighters faced misdirections and late arrival as the blaze was contained only to prevent spread. Officials suspect a short circuit caused by raccoons chewing insulation may have sparked the fire.

Route 23 Change Hearing Planned in Perrysburg Toledo Area
A 10 a.m. public hearing will review proposed rerouting and abandonment of part of Route 23 in Wood and Lucas counties. The plan shifts Route 23 to run from Front Street Perrysburg through Maumee and Toledo totaling about 9.72 miles while bypassed segments would become a 23 bypass. The action affects Perrysburg township and city, Adams and Sylvania townships, Maumee, and Toledo with the new routing along state and U S routes.
