The Carey fire department answered Sunday evening to extinguish a blaze in the motor of Ernie Risner s automobile parked in front of the Galt hotel with only small damage. Tuesday morning at 11 o clock the department fought a truck fire on E Findlay street owned by John Hall of Mansfield en route to Findlay with slight damage and local repairs.

Carey Man Promoted to Captain in Bomber Group
The Rev. Martin P. Cellet of Carey Ohio has been promoted from first lieutenant to captain in the European theater. A Franciscan priest and chaplain in the Flying Fortress group, he directs weekly Catholic services, hears confessions, and gives communion before each mission. Cellet, 37, is active with combat crews at the post chapel and provides religious solace after missions. He is one of two chaplains in the group. Father Cellet is the son of Nicholas Cellet and a Mt. St. Francis 1926 graduate who was ordained May 21, 1932. The story notes that of seven crew members who regularly attended services, only one was lost in action.
