50th Anniversary Celebrated Man near Carey
The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Baughman of four miles west of Carey was celebrated with relatives and friends. They were married December 23, 1888 in Wharton with Rev. George French officiating. A noon dinner followed, grandchildren played Lohengrin on piano and horn, and a renewal of vows was led by their son Rev. A. T. Baughman. Open houses and many relatives attended with gifts presented, including baskets of chrysanthemums.

Fatal railroad crossing accident near Carey Ohio
A 20 year old bride Loretta Starkey was killed instantly when the car she rode in with three others collided head on with a northbound Chesapeake and Ohio freight train near Carey on Route 23. Coroner Dr J A Propst ruled accidental death. The other occupants were injured and treated, heading to Findlay hospital before funeral arrangements.
