Mr and Mrs W H Phelps plan to move to Fostoria where Mr Phelps has served since September as a Reo salesman with the T J Adams organization. Robert Hilty remains with the same firm as sales manager for northwestern Ohio while Mr and Mrs George Snyder rent the Keller Apartments vacated by the Phelps.
Our Lady of Consolation parish members present the historical sacred drama The Three Holy Kings to be staged Thursday and Friday evenings at the Catholic hall. The event will feature specially selected music and is expected to draw a large audience.
The pupils of public schools directed by D. M. Lockhardt of John B. Rogers Co. presented Thursday and Friday at the high school auditorium. Roger Lindsay led piano accompaniment as special scenery enhanced a small stage. The cast delivered largely letter perfect performances in a fairy tale style that delighted two audiences. Ticket sales were modest due to holidays, but the schools netted about 75 dollars and gained valuable experience for future performances and youth training.
The parochial school exhibit of three months of pupil work shows strong talent in drawing, free-hand work, and fancy sewing by girls. Colored papers and crayons enhance designs while writing displays reflect careful teaching by the Franciscan Sisters. The display is open all week for public viewing.
Forest Turner and Mrs. Minnie Traxler faced arraignment before Judge Charles F. Close on a charge of immoral relations and contributing to the delinquency of Turner's children. Traxler pleaded guilty after questioning. Turner received six months in the Dayton workhouse and both must pay costs.
Mrs Myron Greek, seriously ill with stomach trouble, was brought home Saturday from Findlay hospital where she had been two weeks awaiting tests. Doctors decided against surgery. Her children, including Mr and Mrs Carey Harris and Floyd Greno of Lakeville, Mr and Mrs Herbert Harris of Cleveland, and Mr and Mrs Ralph Greno of Indianapolis, were all with her this past week.
Congressman R Clint Cole has notified Herbert Newhard that he recommends Mr Newhard for the Carey postmaster position. The appointment appears likely soon after the year begins, noting Newhard’s 16 years as postmaster before William Zahn’s appointment over eight years ago.
The tax deadline extends to January 20 as only about one eighth of taxes due have been paid in Wsandot County. More than half a million dollars remains to be collected in twenty days, per Chief.
