Christmas vacation for village schools will be shortened, starting Tuesday afternoon December 24 and ending the following Monday, enabling a one week earlier finish on June 6, 1930.

Village Council approves extensive bill list and utility payments

Mrs Edna Kentfield Dies After Auto Crash Near Upper Sandusky
Mrs Edna Kentfield died Wednesday at Monnett Hospital Bucyrus from injuries suffered in a Sunday Lincoln Highway crash west of Upper Sandusky. Driver Charles W Leitz of Bucyrus died hours after the wreck. Mrs Kentfield’s three children survived. Funeral held at Crawford Methodist Church with burial in Crawford cemetery. She was born Feb 10 1887 at McCutchenville. married Sept 22 1906 to Albert H Kentfield, who died four years earlier. Six children were born. five survive plus one grandson. Her store at Lovell had been run since her husband’s death.

Robbers Enter Galt Restaurant. Man Found by Furnace Room
Last Thursday night a rear door at the Galt Restaurant was opened but robbers fled before stealing. Policeman Ed Bakies warned and fired when he encountered a man in the hotel furnace room entrance. The stranger claimed rain shelter before leaving town on a Big Four freight. This was the restaurant's third break in this winter.

Mrs Cordelia Black Dies After Long Illness at Dow Street Residence
Mrs Cordelia Blade Black died Saturday morning at 5 15 at her Dow Street residence after a four and a half year illness with hardening of the arteries and two months bedfast. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 30 at Memorial Evangelical Church with Rev O D Myers officiating. Burial in Spring Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers named Elza Jacobs Charles Lindower Truman Young Will Heck F E B Phillips I E Copley. Born Adrian June 24 1857 to Timothy B and Lucy Pratt Hawkins, she was 77 years 5 months 20 days old. She married J H Black in November 1876. he died 14 years ago. Five children were born. Irvin Black, A J Black, C E Black living, and twins Earl and Ermine deceased. Survived by 14 grandchildren and 65 great grandchildren, plus siblings and half-siblings. The family lived on a farm north of Carey then moved to town in 1908. Active Evangelical church and Pythian Sisters member. Floral donors listed.

Donald William Watson age nine, son of Glenn and Isabelle Watson of three miles east of Carey, died Sunday at midnight after a brief illness due to diabetes.
