Mr and Mrs Ira Suber celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an Open House on December 21 from two to five at their home 196 West Brown Ave Carey. They were married December 25 1919 by Rev S F Banders. Gifts omitted.
The Wyandot Memorial Hospital Board adopts a five percent pay increase to meet living costs and reviews staff shifts and contracts. Dr. R. G. Bacon resigns from the medical staff. Dr. John Otto’s contract as house physician is clarified and extended pending administrator and medical board approval. A telephone system upgrade was discussed but left for later action. A fire department emergency line was also considered with no decision. A collision near Upper Sandusky on Route 18 is being investigated by the Wyandot County Inter Department. preliminary reports name Mrs. Wallebe R. (Janie L.).
A 14 year old Carey boy was apprehended by Carey Police early Monday morning and released to his parents after an alleged break in at about 5 50 a m. A side door of the Donelson Carry-Out was broken and the youth allegedly took a small amount of edible goods including candy and chips.
A two vehicle collision on Route 182 near Upper Sandusky left Mrs Weddington dead and Mr Ritter seriously injured. A bus carrying students from Angeline School of Opportunity overturned injuring several youths in Wyandot County Ohio.
The Grace United Methodist Church announces Advent and Christmas services beginning November 30 with Holy Communion and an Advent wreath lighting. Sermons include What Message This What Child Is This and What Hope Is This. The Jr and Sr Choirs perform December 14 and a Candlelight Christmas Eve service on December 24 at 10 p.m. explores What Happened In Bethlehem. Student Recognition Sunday follows on December 28 honoring college students home on vacation.
Carey Kiwanis Club heard Leifhert of Ohio Department of Natural Resources discuss Rabbit Management with slide films from a Western Pennsylvania beagle farm. The group announced a joint eye glasses program with the Carey Jaycees and urged timely entry for the Christmas Lighting Contest.
The Carey Conservation Sportsman Club hosts a New Years Dance on December 31 1969 at 9 30 p m with Frankarts Orchestra Reservation required. Call 396 8130 for reservations and payment by December 20 1969 or December 17 1969 no door sales.
Two young men from Carey were hospitalized after an early Saturday crash on U S Route 23 near Alvada. Dennis Milum 22 collided with Lawrence Barrett 44 of Health Ohio as Barrett said the car crossed the centerline. Milum was trapped with head and facial injuries and a leg fracture.
The Elks annual Kiddies Christmas Party will be held this Saturday December 20 at Carey and Upper Sandusky Theaters with free movies Santa Claus and treats for all children. Carey Volunteer Fire Department responded to a burning vehicle at 2 37 p m on St Route 199 North Nine firefighters prepared to proceed but the blaze was extinguished before their arrival The fire whistle blew despite the out fire report
Carey voters approve a 3.8 mill operating levy by 685 to 352, about 66 percent in favor, following a prior narrow Nov defeat. Results broken by precinct show broad local support across Carey and surrounding townships with multiple areas voting yes. Also covered are Masonic honors for Grover C Snyder, a Christmas lighting contest sponsoring by the Carey Kiwanis Club, and minor local court actions.
Marine Lance Corporal Norman Risner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Risner of Route 1 Carey, was awarded the Vietnamese Service Medal with Combat V while serving with the First Battalion First Regiment First Marine Division in Vietnam. Marines of the battalion conduct company and platoon sweeps and civic action programs in the battalion area of responsibility.
The VFW Hall hosts a Christmas party for children age 12 and under at 8 pm on Friday December 19 for members and Auxiliary members. Also announces used items for sale and a small rental the Niederkohrs extend New Year wishes.
