Dedication Program for Ohio Christmas Food Trains

The Rev. Wade H. Koons of Christ Lutheran Church will preside at the dedication ceremony in Columbus next Sunday December 19 at 2 p m. on the state capitol lawn, featuring choral works and speakers from the Ohio CROP and related groups. The event will be broadcast on WRED and other Ohio stations if possible.

Carey Lodge Installs Officers For 420 Masons

Carey Lodge No. 420 F and A M installed officers at a Monday evening meeting. Carey Welfare Board Elects Officers in Tuesday Meeting

The Carey Welfare Board met at the home of Mrs. C. Laind on S Patterson Street to elect officers. Wendell Wentling was chosen president with Mrs. Car Heck as vice president and Mrs. Fred Mitchell as secretary treasurer. Other board members include Mrs. John Welsh Mrs. Cyril Simonis Mrs. Laird Mrs. Yatle Perkins Mrs. Ralph Williams and Mrs. George Newhard.

Legion Christmas Party Slated Tuesday Night

Prince of Peace Contest Winners Named in Upper Sandusky

Sunday evening in the Upper Sandusky churches judged Prince of Peace contests with high quality entries. Presbyterian church awarded Peggy Ann Laird Carey first and Char lene Hanna Wharton second. Methodist church gave John Tschantz Nevada first and Samuel McChesney III Carey second. First place winners receive silver medals and become alternates for the district contests.

First Caryatid Staff Initiates Planned Yearbook Pictures

Village Accepts Spring Grove Cemetery Transfer

The Carey village council voted to transfer Spring Grove Cemetery north of Carey from H B Keller to the village. The endowment fund of 16056.59 is deposited in four Toledo banks along with the cemetery, which includes 4704 lots of which 2339 are sold. Endowment will be required at future purchases.

Gift of 1000 Funds Christ Lutheran Church Anniversary

At the 90th anniversary service Christ Lutheran Church Carey received a surprise gift of 1000 from Mrs Grace Roger Williar of Baltimore in memory of her mother Mrs Emma B Royer. The money may be used as desired for a constructive purpose and as a memorial to Mrs Royer. Pastor Wade H Koons announced the bequest and Mrs Williar sent greetings to old friends.

Elks Christmas Party at Carey Theatre

The Elks host their annual Christmas party for children Friday morning December 24 at 10 in the New Carey theatre with a res show. Santa will greet youngsters in the lobby after the show to distribute treats. In Upper Sandusky a free 2 pm showing at the New Star theatre precedes a 4 pm visit to the Elks home for treats.

The Swan Rubber Co. in Bucyrus informed employees of temporary lay offs as garden hose shipments are reduced until January 1. The firm cites large warehouse inventories uncertain economic conditions and inventory taxes in many states. The company is the world’s largest garden hose manufacturer operating three eight hour shifts.

The state highway department surveyed ground known as the Wyandot Indian Caverns on Route 15 west of Carey with plans to open a modern roadside park there. The site was landscaped over 20 years ago and is described as a beautiful park prospect.

Narrow Escape After Truck Collision in Fostoria

Mrs Grace Stanley aged 76 fell Saturday afternoon on her Dow Street porch. The fall threw her into the front yard.
