Car Hits Stray Horse Near Wharton
Velmer Wentling narrowly escaped injury when a stray horse darted onto the road three miles north of Wharton on a Tuesday evening. Wentling, a bridge construction worker from Arlington, was driving home toward Carey. the car was badly damaged and the horse was injured. The animal was one of two loose on the road that afternoon.
