Warsaw Indiana December 10 1927 Ded Editor and Publisher shares holiday greetings to old friends recalling Carey Times and past hardships before modern times. The piece reflects on boyhood spirit, era changes, and the moral value of kindness over fame or money.

Mr Nile Gibson guest organist for four o clock vesper service at Christ Lutheran Church Findlay. The 4:00 pm program features organ preludes hymns anthems processional and benediction with a postlude by Verdi. Congregation urged to attend and remain seated for the postlude.
Carey residents are urged to bring food clothing and cash to the library assembly room Friday afternoon December 16 for county Red Cross relief. The appeal comes from the county worker who notes the greater need in the area and hopes to brighten the holidays for those in need.
The Lamberjack family expresses gratitude to the Community club members and neighbors who assisted Monday and Tuesday with hauling in corn and shock fodder. Members named include Theodore Stark Theodore Myers Fred Eingle Mark Kart Tracy Johnson Preston Gaster Glen McKee Will Myers Linus Reinhart Sylvester Bees Carl Shu man Harry Luzader and others.
J Loose A. J. Clark deputy supervisor for Ohio will visit the local Moose lodge this Thursday night. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting.
Local Red Cross drive reports a roll call total of 163 dollars 31 cents. The amount reflects community donations gathered during the campaign period.
A handwritten note requests Santa forgive a year of misdeeds and bring gifts including a dog collar, picture book, air gun, sled, skates, candy, and nuts. The writer asks for extra room to be a better boy and do what's right, signing with Christmas wishes.
F M Burson aged 76 is badly hurt after being struck by a Ford coupe driven by Ralph Markley at Findlay and Patterson streets. He suffered two broken bones in his right leg and a badly bruised back, receiving treatment at home and later surgery by Drs Van Buren and Bame.
An exhibit of fine art prints in the high school auditorium attracts over 500 visitors since Tuesday. The 150 masterpieces are valued at more than 1000 dollars and proceeds fund picture purchases for grade rooms. A Friday program features children describing pictures and related exercises. Admission is 10 cents.
Eastern Star notice announces Chawford Chapter No 168 will meet Friday evening December 15 at 7 30. Newly elected officers will be installed with Mrs F A Galbron as installing officer Mrs H B Turnbell as installing marshal and Mrs E Smith as installing chaplain. Meeting will be followed by a social hour.
A box social and entertainment will be held at Fort Royal school near Carey. Miss Cleo Fisher teaches at the school, located 334 miles southwest of Carey, with events planned for Friday evening, December 22.
About 200 people attended the first P T A social meeting at the high school auditorium Monday evening. Mrs H P DeWitt welcomed guests, with a program featuring the high school orchestra, the Ki ndnis quartet, a projection demonstration, a playlet Uncle Dicks Mistake, songs and stunts. Prizes were awarded, refreshments praised, next meeting set for January 9. Dr Clayton Kohl of Bowling Green will speak.
Sylvia Warren wife of Eli Warren died Sunday evening at the Seneca county home in Tiffin after a three year cancer illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 pm at Sutter's parlors with Rev. L H Naumann officiating. Burial followed in Spring Grove cemetery. The 46 year old widow survived by her husband and one daughter Opal Mae Hannum. She was born in Sycamore to Della and Charles Walker and had earlier married William Hannum who was killed at Adrian five years earlier.
Pythian Sisters plan an initiation at tonight's meeting and a Christmas exchange. The October November and December birthday social is set for December 17 with a playlet The Red Parasol to be presented. All members and friends are invited.
The Jennie Larmonth Missionary society will meet at Mrs Earl Burson's home Monday evening. Mrs Forest Dame will assist as hostess. Mrs Wm Sloman and Mrs H L Wenner are five leaders.
The J A McDaniel Overland Company recently sold a 96 coach and new electric radios to buyers including Joe Silverstein Virgil Green Mr Orians Henry Feasel Chester Chapman and Charley Cross for a string of local purchases.
Adelia E Michaels daughter of David L and Mary B Michaels was born in Harrisonville Fulton County Pennsylvania June 3 1864 and died November 30 1937 at 63 years 5 months 27 days. She moved with her family to At tica then Carey later to Sycamore where she united with the Methodist church. Funeral services were held at the M E church in Carey with Rev J J Adams officiating and burial in Spring Grove cemetery Carey. Attending from a distance came many relatives and friends.
Monday afternoon a coal oil can exploded as Ruth Laney aged 13 attempted to light a fire. Her hands burned her dress caught fire and windows doors walls and linoleum burned before her family extinguished the blaze. Mrs Laney injured her knee in the commotion and cannot walk. The infant in the home was unharmed.
At a banquet for Ohio University football squads 18 of 45 freshmen were promised sweaters with numerals. Winford Ogg and Alfred Gardner were among the honorees, with Gardner at tackle and Ogg at full back. Both hope to join the varsity next year and are Tau Kappa Phi pledges with Karl Fleck and Everett McKee as members. Lieutenant Earl Criger also belongs to the same fraternity, Omicron chapter at Ohio State University.
The Evangelical Sunday school plans a sale on Saturday December 17 at the Rest Room featuring aprons fancy work parcel post packages and home made candy. Proceeds support the Sunday school activities.
A 70%-pound son arrived Monday morning to Mr and Mrs S H Krebs. He has been named Donald Art and joins the family as their newest member.
John McLaughlin died Tuesday at 2 05 AM at his North Vance Street home after a long illness. He came to the United States from Ireland at 17 and settled in Carey in 1910. Survived by his wife Elizabeth Didrick and nine children William and John of Lima Andrew of Sandusky Michael of Kankakee Mrs Frank Kum merer Bascom Edward Daniel Francis and Isadore of Carey, plus 23 grandchildren. Funeral at Our Lady of Consolation Church with Requiem Mass. burial in St. Marys Cemetery.
The Womans Home and Foreign Missionary Society met Wednesday in the parish house. Mrs I L Culler and Mrs Fred Powell led the meeting with prayer and song. Over 70 dollars was reported in the Thank Offering and the session closed with a missionary benediction.
Miss Lucille Hunter daughter of Mr and Mrs Elmer Hunter and Elmer Vogel son of Mr and Mrs John Vogel were married yesterday morning at the home of Mr and Mrs Harry Bristol. Rev Joseph Shelihans officiated with a single ring ceremony. The bride wore sable tan and the couple will live in Wharton where the groom runs Vogel grocery. Mrs Vogel previously worked five years as a bookkeeper at Zeis hardware and graduated Findlay business college.
Mr and Mrs Dean Ashley, Carey visitors, returned to Akron with Mr and Mrs L R Ashley and left Tuesday for New York City. Wednesday at 11:30 p m they sailed for France aboard the President Roosevelt. They plan Christmas in Paris then travel to Italy and England before Liberia. Ashley is an accountant for Firestone Rubber Co on a plantation there. He recently had an eight month leave after marrying soon after landing in New York.

Findlay executive H E Nau accepted a manager post at the Atlantax TM and Pacific store to succeed Paul Kelley. Nau will oversee operations and customer service while the transition plan is implemented.
