Daniel Rickle of near Vanlue underwent a serious operation Monday at the Findlay Home and Hospital performed by Dr. H V Hartman of Findlay with Dr. R N Lee of Mt Blanchard assisting. Mrs A B Doppler and Mr and Mrs Ijinus Myers of Carey and his wife were with him. Rickle is a former Carey resident who will be 82 in April.

Mysterious death rocks Carey as wife found dead
Wilbur Montague returns home on Wednesday afternoon to find his wife Lillian Ottile Heilman Montague lying on the floor near a carbolic acid bottle and a note claiming she would be found in Upper Sandusky. Dr. Siddall cannot confirm suicide though mental trouble is noted. Funeral set for Saturday at 2 PM with Rev. A C Rainsberger presiding. Burial in Spring Grove cemetery. She was born February 2 1889 in Columbus and died at 44 years 10 months 11 days. Surviving are her husband, one daughter who died at age 10, two sisters, three brothers, and several Heilman relatives in Columbus and Sandusky City. Mr and Mrs Montague moved to Carey from Columbus years ago.

Bridge Construction Advances Over Tymochtee Creek
The Kear-Baker company of Wharton is progressing the Tymochtee creek bridge near Crawford. First concrete on the north pier footing poured November 16, with north abutment and both piers completed. South abutment due this week. steel arriving December 20 and deck ready by January 5. Main spans include six girders weighing three and a half tons and three center girders at four and a half tons. Project aimed for May 15 completion per the State Highway department.

Four bandits escaped in a blue sedan bearing license tags issued to Oscar Holida of N Vance Street Carey after the Central Bank of Mechanicsburg was robbed Friday. Holida’s license tags tools and tire patches in his car were reported stolen Thursday night Dec 7. A bank cashier’s letter to Marshal O Connor described the bandits as refined and not ruffians with a leader who appeared to earn five to ten thousand dollars yearly.

Eight month old Joan Kay Kuhlman daughter of Kenneth and Geraldine Kuhlman died after a day long pneumonia illness. Funeral services were held at Bristoll Kear funeral home with Rev. Paul R. Charles Kemerley died at his home on Frederick street Saturday night December 2 after a two and half year diabetes illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Goff funeral home led by Rev. Paul R. Clouser of Christ Lutheran. Interment in Lutheran Ridge cemetery. Survived by wife Ida Bauer and their daughters Betty Marie Louise. two daughters from a former marriage Ruth and Mildred, plus three brothers and other relatives. many from South Bend attended the Fraternal Order of Police gathering and Bauer family members joined in the services.
