Kiwanis Luncheon Discusses Carey Tax and School District

H G Chambers spoke on local taxation at a Kiwanis luncheon noting a 10 mill education share and the need to enlarge the Carey school district by including Crawford and Ridge townships. He warned against lowering rates and proposed a central high school for the area.

Organ Recital at Lutheran Church by Prof Bach

Next Sunday night at 8 Prof F L Bach of the Wit tenberg School of Music will give an organ recital at the Lutheran church. He will be accompanied by pupil Mr Bailey. The program features sacred numbers for the Christmas season. Admission is free with a free will offering at the door. Everyone is invited.

Auto crash victim dies. Moon 31

Clifford Moon of 2100 Madison avenue died in Toledo hospital after injuries from a October 27 auto crash near Upper Sandusky. Moon, pinned under the vehicle, suffered a broken back. Coroner Henzler ruled the death accidental after an inquest.

Carey Fire Company Elects Officers for Next Year

On Wednesday evening the Carey fire company chose Chief Jo Wonder and Assistant Chief Frank Slemmer for next year. Secretary D J Humbert and Assistant Secretary Wm Humbert will serve. Treasurer S H Krebs, Trustees J T Stombaugh Minor Mann and Dr F L Moyer were elected.

Man Injured After Auto Strikes Pedestrian at Main and Patterson

Grant Shrodes from Tiffin, a 4 manster for Carey Handle & Lumber Co, was hit by a car driven by Joe and Earl Dible while crossing Main Street. His left side and head were injured, rendering him unconscious for two hours. he was taken to Harry Tanner’s home on Lake Street and is now able to sit up.

Utilities panel approves sale of West Liberty power assets

The Ohio Public Utilities Commission on last Monday authorized West Liberty Light and Power to sell its property and rights to Ohio Edison of Toledo for 330000. No rate increase or service reduction is permitted. A similar deal might occur in Carey in the future.

Booster Club Meeting at Fos toria Report

Twenty five members of the Booster Club of the WBA of the Maccibees attended a meeting in Fos toria Miss Russel of Toledo gave a talk in the afternoon and evening. Drills and a short play were enjoyed and the hostesses served a delicious dinner.

Edward Davidson Salem resident dies at 74

Edward Davidson of Salem township died at his home four miles south of Carey on December 8 after a two year illness. Born October 27, 1849 in Danville Indiana he lived 74 years 4 months 11 days. He never married, supported relatives, bred fancy poultry for 40 years, and attended St. Joseph's Church. Funeral was at St. Joseph's in Salem with burial in the church cemetery.
