Friars Choir to star in Carey Philharmonic Christmas Concert

The Carey Philharmonic Society presents its annual Christmas program at 8 p m Sunday in the Carey High School auditorium. The Friars Choir of Our Lady of Carey Seminary, the girls high school ensemble, the Our Lady of Consolation Children's Choir, and the Philharmonic perform. Soloists include Mrs William L Yingling and others with Mister Kessler on accordion and Miss Schwemley directing. The public is invited to attend.

Free Chest X-rays At Mobile Unit Visit Local Plants

Nearly 1,000 residents and more than 500 plant workers were X-rayed during a mobile unit visit to Swan Rubber Co Seiberling Rubber Co Porcelain Products Co National Lime and Stone Wyandot Dolomite and Schmidt's Machine Shop. Office workers aided at each site and volunteers assisted downtown as the Ohio Fuel Gas Co opened its office for shelter from the weather.

Son-In-Law Receives Athletic Honors at Louisville Banquet

Ronald Petty of the University of Louisville, son-in-law of Rev. and Mrs. J. Frank Ferguson, was honored at the football banquet with three trophies including Leadership for a second year. The 228-pound senior tackle from Bradford Ohio captained the Cardinals to a 7-2 season and was named L Club vice-president. He is married to Joyce Ferguson, with a son Craig. their August 1959 wedding at Carey Methodist Church is noted.

W. C. Loughley, vice-president and director of Swan Rubber Co., leads a new Industrial Engineering division aimed at cutting costs across Swan’s plants. Terry R. will replace him as Carey division manager, with Harold Vaughn and Eugene Costello as production superintendents. A Technical Department is created with Kenneth Talbot named technical director in Carey. All are English natives who recently moved from Canada to Bucyrus and plan to relocate to Carey.

Merchants Announce Holiday Store Hours

Downtown shoppers invited Saturday December 10 to visit Santa from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 in the evening. Santa will relocate to Carey the following Saturday with the same hours, as Blue Stamp merchants extend Thursday afternoon hours through Christmas and begin 6 to 9 PM evenings from December 16 for customer convenience.

Two Carey Hunters Bring Home Deer

Delbert Ritter and his son in law Herbert Risner of south of Fostoria were two of six men who spent eight days in Wardensville Hardy county West Virginia. Ritter took a small doe and Risner a small buck while Buckingham’s at McCutchenville dressed the one for the Ritters deep freeze. The group rode in an old school bus converted to a house trailer leaving after Thanksgiving and returning last Saturday. Each morning in Wardensville they spotted an albino buck on the hillside but could not approach.

Countywide farm policy class invites adult farmers

The third session of the county wide adult farmers class on Farm Policy will be held at Harpster Tuesday evening Dec. 13, with a fourth session at Mohawk Dec. 20. All Carey School District farmers may meet at the local high school at 7 30 each night. Past sessions drew 80 at Upper and 50 at Carey. Glenn Vollmar and Riley Dougan led two programs.
