Miss Ruth Schilling and Miss Wealtha Wentling attended the fall meeting of the Ohio Unit of the International Reading Association at the Southern Hotel in Columbus. About 450 registrants included college education heads, superintendents, principals, and teachers. Conclusions stressed readiness for reading, emotional and physical development, and avoiding pressure while supporting individual progress. The study noted improved reading rates for slow readers and urged parent–teacher communication ahead of the next meeting in Cleveland March 1–3.

Two Carey youths jailed for spree of burglaries
Gerald D. Fletcher aged 17 and Willard Frasure aged 16 confessed to 10 break ins over three weeks. They appeared before Judge Russell H. Kear and received an indefinite term not less than seven months in the Boys Industrial School Lancaster.
