Day Two area stone plants walk out at Carey Lime and Stone Company and Spore quarry near Bucyrus Indiana. The UMWA District 50 seeks a 20 cent across the board raise plus fringe benefits. The union contract expired at midnight Sunday with no extension granted and no settlement yet reached.
Phillip Turk becomes the resident Patrolman for Wyandot County joining Patrolman Robert Alexander already on duty. Turk and his family will live in Upper Sandusky. He is a Julibuck, Ohio native who previously served at the Bucyrus Post for five years.
The Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Head Start program will relocate its Kenton office to the Bat Station building at Main Street near Routes 68 and 103 to better serve the four county area. Staff attended conferences with calls for volunteers and speech therapy help for Head Start children, inviting local residents to contact Sue Summerfield for opportunities.
Consolidations combine Carey A and Carey B into one precinct voting at the City Building. Carey C and Carey E vote at K of P Hall basement. Carey D uses Gas Office in Carey. Crawford A and B vote in Richardson Building at 107 E Findlay St Carey. Ridge Township votes at Township House. Big Springs South Seneca County votes at general store Adrian. Polls open 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday December 9 1969.
Mrs. Lois Mullholand Sr., owner of Mullholand's Pizza Shop in Carey, died at 1 a.m. Tuesday December 2 after surgery complications at Blanchard Valley Hospital Findlay. Born March 17 1918 in Sengeca County she was daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Spoon of McCutchenville. Survived by husband James Mullholand. children Linda Krout James Mullholand Jr Roger Mullholand Lisa Loader Lana Mullholand Lori Mullholand and others. eight grandchildren and two brothers Harry Spoon Jr Warren Spoon. Funeral 9:30 a.m. at National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation Rev Hubert Kobunski officiating. Burial St Mary Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at Bristol Funeral Home.
Mayor's court records show Robert Kitzler Jr of Carey fined for reckless operation with $10 and costs. Walter Phillips of Carey charged with assault and battery by Kitzler, fined $50 and costs with $35 suspended on good behavior for six months.
Carey Kiwanis Club launches its annual Christmas Lighting Contest with prizes of 25 dollars for first, 15 for second and 10 for third. Eligibility is limited to Carey residents and nearby areas.
Officers and city tournament committees of the Carey Women’s Bowling Association will meet Thursday, December first, at 30 at the home of Barbara Keister.
Twenty two players earned awards at the Boosters Banquet at Shrine Cafeteria. Seniors named Bob Dible Ron Creeger Jeff Enders John Evans Jim Greer Dave Keister Mike Myers Mark Nash Gerry Pahl Bob Shaffer and Mike Yingling. Juniors Mike Mullholand Dallas Mundy Paul Niederkohr Tom Shaffer Larry Snook Tom Yingling. Sophomores Tom Frey Spence Kitzler Jerry Mathern Ralph Puckett. Freshman Doug Stombaugh received a first year award. Michael Myers got the Booster Club Leadership award. Rev Robert Klingel presented. Don Keister chaired the program and compiled 46 years of Carey football history on film for future use. The Zion Broom Cemetery Association meets December 6 at 1:30 p.m. at St Paul United Methodist Church south of Vanlue. Lot owners urged to attend. Additional items include Christmas trees, used furniture for sale at 210 Columbus Ave. and New Year’s Dance by Carey Conservation Sportsman Club with reservations.
Round and square dance every Saturday night at Eagles Club 2118 in Findlay. Members and friends invited. Holiday specials from Parkway Mobile Home Village offer holiday discounts on new or used mobile homes. Park location is near Upper Sandusky edge, open daily 9 am to 8 pm, weekends 9 am to 6 pm.
The Carey Conservation Club invites members and wives to a wild game supper and dance on December 13, 1969. Supper runs 6:30 to 8:30 with a dance from 9:30 to 12. Frankart Orchestra will perform from 12 to 3 and again 12 to 10. No charge for attendees.
Local groups schedule December meetings and events including Fortnightly Cub programs at Mrs Wenner's home, Impri the Ma donnas by Mrs Harold Franklin, Leaf Rebekah Lodge Christmas potluck, Knights of Columbus and Knights of Pythias gatherings, Carey Jaycees December 3, Kiwanis December 8, Girl Scouts downtown event December 16, Third Order of St Francis at school, North American Benefit Association dinner December 9, PBS Club Christmas dinner December 4, and Christ Lutheran Church spaghetti dinner and bazaar December 3.
Thanksgiving Day tables were filled as families and friends visited from Carey and nearby towns. Numerous households hosted relatives from Defiance Ada Tiffin Findlay Upper Sandusky and Cleveland with extended family members listed by name and street.
