Christ Church Celebrates 97th Anniversary Honors 50 Year Members

Christ Church marked its 97th year with a Sunday worship service attended by 336. It honored 22 members with 50 years or more of continuous membership. Recipients included Mrs. Herbert Newhard and Mrs. Jackson Soper among others with 51 to 64 years. Two 50 year members were not named this year. Frederick Williams and wife rejoined from Findlay.

Tiffin Contractor Low Bidder On Route 53 Project

Tiffin Excavating Contractors Inc of Tiffin topped three bids for a new steel beam bridge over Tymochtee Creek on Route 53 in Wyandot County with a 118 39277 bid. The project also covers a grade change on Route 699 to improve sight distance. Clyde A Janes Inc of Marietta bid 27 939 29 to replace four small bridges on State Route 109 north of Ottawa with corrugated metal culverts.

Wharton Couple Celebrates 61st Wedding Anniversary

Mr and Mrs William Henry Kauble of Wharton marked 61 years of marriage with a family gathering at their home south of town. The couple have five children, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and are members of the Big Oak Evangelical United Brethren Church. Beantown Choir Comedy Presented by MYF Group

The Intermediate MYF of First Methodist Church will stage a three act comedy titled The Beantown Choir at 8 p m on Wednesday December 14 in the church basement. Proceeds fund the group’s camp participation next summer. Tickets are sold at the door.

Truck Crash Causes Livestock Loss Near Upper Sandusky

Myron H. Ara of Dunkirk escaped injury when a tractor-trailer overturned on Route 30N two and a quarter miles west of Upper Sandusky. The truck spilled livestock. 12 hogs valued at 286 dollars and 25 lambs valued at 594 dollars were killed. Damaged truck estimated at 3,000 dollars. One pair of Angus bulls escaped and were recaptured Monday morning. Wyandot county sheriff’s department investigated.

Carey Man's Brother Seriously Injured in Accident

Urban Seifert 22 of Carey was critically injured when his car left the highway near Gallipolis and struck a tree. He is in a coma after surgery and his family traveled to Gallipolis for updates as his condition remains serious.

Junior Class Thanksgiving Party at High School Gym

Fire call to James Spencer home ends with no blaze

Firemen were summoned to the James Spencer residence on the Ray P. Hunter farm south of Carey after 11 am Monday when wallpaper in the living room felled to an overheated stovepipe. The fire was out before their arrival, delayed by a caller who gave only the old Peirce farm without an address and hung up.
