Tim's Auto Service Captures Slow Pitch Championship

Tim's Auto Service defeated K of C and Seiberling to win the slow pitch tournament title. Tim's pulled ahead with two K of C errors in the second inning for a 9 to 6 win, then beat Seiberling 7 to 5 in a playoff after opening 1 to 0. M Porter homered for the winners. L Meek homered for Seiberling.

Cafeteria Menu Rough-Tied Week Plates Meals

Thursday August 31 offers spaghetti carrot celery sticks glorified rice bread butter milk. Friday features tuna noodle casserole peas Jello with fruit bread butter milk. Tuesday serves wiener sandwich green beans browned potatoes orange milk. Wednesday provides meat salad sandwich glazed carrots mixed fruit cookie milk. Thursday September 7 includes Spanish rice lettuce salad apple crisp bread butter milk. September 8 lists macaroni and cheese cabbage and pineapple salad peas.

Levan Clay Joan Clay Janet Guthridge Lynn Dee Myers Sue Ann Myers assisted by Jim Roynon and Yoselda Neimann earned the funds by staging pantomimes songs and plays for neighborhood playmates on a basement stage with refreshments.

The Carey Post Office will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day. The temporary shutdown affects mailing and pickup services, with normal operations resuming the following business day.

Vanlue School Set to Open September 7

Vanlue School will open Thursday September 7 with an 8 30 a m to 3 30 p m day. Kindergarten meets mornings with age and registration requirements and bus routes stay similar to last year. Meals cost 25 cents and faculty schedules include meetings for fair exhibits and teachers events. The district seeks a renewal operating levy of 7144 mills for five years.

Wyandot County Fair to open with Sunday religious service

The Wyandot County Ministerial Association sponsors a 7:30 p.m. service Sunday September 10 in the fairgrounds grandstands. Rev Elam G Wiest D D of the Northeast Ohio Synod will preach. A county church choir will perform and singers should join the 2 30 p m practice September 3 at Trinity United Church of Christ Upper Sandusky. Public invited.

U S Route 23 Hearing Planned In Upper Sandusky

Area officials landowners and others interested in the proposed U S 23 route bypassing Carey to the south and west are invited to a 10 a m hearing next Tuesday in the Common Pleas court room at the courthouse Upper Sandusky. The route will be described and objections heard.

Jack Armstrong Buys Cities Service Station in Upper Sandusky

Jack L. Armstrong of Upper Sandusky has purchased the Cities Service station at the corner of W Findlay and N Vance Streets and took charge Monday morning. He will repair and service autos and trucks, with hours 6 30 a m to 10 p m. He is married to Dorothy Cook of Carey and they have two sons, Matthew and Mark. They plan to move to Carey.

Bowling Green Grads Accept Elementary Teaching Posts

June graduates Miss Nancy Combine and Miss Linda Treece have accepted teaching jobs for the 1961 62 term. Combine will teach elementary physical education grades 1 to 6 in Sylvania schools and left Tuesday to start. Treece will teach first and second grades at Fort Miami School Maumee and leaves Sunday.

Jeanine Kitchel and three Cleveland area friends celebrate their shared June 11 birth date with an annual summer party. The group, born in 1949 at Bay View Hospital, has kept a family tradition in rotating hosting duties though this June's plans were delayed after the hostess, Mrs. John Kvak, welcomed a baby who did not survive.

Mrs. Leroy Wimer of 333 W. North Street is named Red Cross Blood Donor chairman for Carey with Mrs. Robert Showman as co chair. They replace six year chair Mrs. Clarence Hagley of 354 S. Vance Street. Wyandot County Chapter secretary Mrs. Jessie Withrow notes Hagley’s retirement and announces the Blood Mobile will return to Carey on September 21 with a quota of 125 pints.

Little League Picnic Set Saturday at Ball Field
