The annual football preview at Donnell Stadium Findlay starts 8:00 p m Friday with Carey meeting Arcadia in the first game. Arlington then faces Ada followed by Findlay versus Bucyrus. Tickets listed as adult 50 cents and students 25 cents.
Willard residents report a balloon barrage deters starlings and blackbirds in shade trees. Inflated toy balloons on strings flutter near roosting sites, and birds reportedly avoid the area, reducing daytime foraging in the countryside and nightly roosting in city trees.
Twenty two members attended the final meeting on August 12. Plans were made for a float at Wyandot county fair in Upper Sandusky on September 12. At the Ohio State Fair in Columbus, Don Orians Gaylord Derr and Don Derr placed 7th in beef judging while Dick Vaughn Cletus Orians and Kenneth Montgomery did well in dairy judging.
The Wyandot county advisory committee for farmers' home administration met at the court house in Upper Sandusky on Monday August 28 the first meeting of the new fiscal year. Luther Still was elected chairman Ira Summit was named vice chairman and Mrs Paulins Smalley joined the committee. They discussed the government program offering financial and technical assistance to eligible farm families.
The Carey Blue Devils begin football season at home on Friday September 15 at 8 p m Oak Harbor visits. The repaired stadium and prime field ensure good protection for players as Oak Harbor enters with a long winning streak and no defeats.
The Ohio Checker association will hold a state tournament in Carey at McDaniel's auto sales room on North street. Players will travel from Columbus Toledo Akron Youngstown and other parts of the state. Marion Tinsley of Columbus will defend his title. The group will organize Friday evening and begin play Saturday forenoon continuing until a champion is decided.
Mr and Mrs John Risner and sons Donald and Freddy depart this morning for Syracuse New York where Donald begins as a freshman at Syracuse University He will report for football practice Friday afternoon Before returning home the family will travel into Canada
The 113th annual Ohio conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church met at Calvary U B Church in Carey from Wednesday through Sunday. Several pastors returned or transferred, eleven men were licensed to preach, nine ordained as elders, and a double recognition service honored two missionary appointees for Brazil and Sierra Leone.
Wyandot county 4-H boys earned fourth place in the general livestock judging contest at the Ohio State Fair. Participants included Philip Frankenfield, Dick Heckathorn, and Henry Collet, with Champaign taking first, Union second, and Seneca third. Henry Collet ranked sixth nationally in individual judging.
Mrs Harry Thomas and her son Jimmy of Northwest Carey completed a three week visit to Portland Oregon hosted by Mr and Mrs Donald Thomas. They traveled through Wisconsin Minnesota North Dakota Montana Idaho and Washington to Astoria and Seaside Oregon and viewed the International Rose Gardens. On return they passed Salt Lake City Cheyenne and Omaha.
Mr and Mrs Willard Rettig and children Barbara Tommy and Vicky have moved from west of Carey to 184 W Brown Ave they recently bought from Mr and Mrs Lucian Troiano Troiano and children Johnny and Susan occupy a house on the Courtney Green farm four miles northwest of Carey
At 4 p.m. Saturday, a collision occurred in McGuffey when a car driven by 67 year old Harry Obenour pulled from the curb and struck an auto driven by 18 year old Billy Conley. Obenour and Conley were the involved parties.
The Philathea Ladies Bible class and Memorial BE Sunday School will meet Tuesday evening September 5 with Mrs Lucy Dible of Adrian. All members urged to attend.
James Jacob 12, Robert Detwiler 19, and Jerry Risner 19 enlisted in the U S air corps and left Toledo on August 22 for training at Lackland Air Base San Antonio Texas. James is the son of Mrs Lavina Jacob of Findlay street. Jerry’s parents are Mrs and Mrs Sam Risner of Carey Lorimnerly. Robert is the son of Mrs Della Detwiler who is at present ill with her daughter Mrs Graydon Hill of Bellefontaine.
An 8 4 pound Thomas son Rob ert Francis born at 9 30 a.m. Friday to Mr and Mrs Frank Anast Jr 7312 Adams Street Findlay. A 2 ounce boy born at 1 28 p.m. Sunday to Mr and Mrs Jack Ogg W Findlay Street. A 7 pound 6 ounce daughter born at 6 10 a.m. Monday to Mr and Mrs Eugene Lab 821 Summit Street Findlay. The items note family connections to Carey Arcadia and Blanchard with mention of grandparents and former names.

Carey Lions club members fished all day last Thursday on the Reefs between Port Clinton and Lakeside. Attendees included Fred Wisher Donald Fetters Ray Hunter Ira Myers Cloyce Wentling Paul Williams James Mull holland and Edgar Keller Regular meetings resume in September.
Carey temple No. 169 Pythian Sisters hold first meeting after summer recess on Thursday evening September 7 at 8 o clock. A special business session will be followed by a birthday social with Mrs Nelson Turnbell serving as chairman.

Mr and Mrs P M Tracey of north of Carey did not learn of the death of their son in law Kevin Ballreich Tiffin until Tuesday night when they arrived home from a week in Maine Funeral services for Mr Ballreich who was fatally injured in a plane crash were held at two o clock that afternoon The state highway patrol had attempted to locate the Traceys through radio broadcasts Mrs Tracey has been spending several days in Tiffin with her daughter.
Mr and Mrs Dean Wright of south of Carey announce the approaching marriage of their daughter Sally Ann to James Norman Lessig son of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Lessig north of Carey The wedding will be held on Saturday September 9.
Gloria Ziebarth, from Carey, current Ogunquit Playhouse performer with Manhattan Repertory Theatre Company, starred in the 2 act Happy Birthday. Imogene Coca led the show with other notable performers Leo Carroll Bess Johnson Edward Everett Horton and Jean Parker as season runs through September 9. Thirteen Wyandot county young men traveled to Toledo on August 22 for physical examinations under the selective service act for classification. Participants include Ralph Lindy Staley Alfred Isadore Snyder Richard Nelson Hotelling Lloyd Arnold McGaldridge James Merlin Russell Carroll LeGail Kent Bernard Wayne Barth Darrell Ujeh Dean Edward James Bennett John Edward Brown Donald Ray Grimes Edward Nichols Dotz Robert Hugene King. A later call is set for September 19 when 39 will take exams. sixteen were examined on August 15.
William D. Dill Jr., 20, of Carey pleaded not guilty in Findlay mayor's court to a driving while intoxicated charge. After witnesses were examined the case was dismissed by Mayor Clifford E. Glathart. Dill's car collided with Ollie N. Starks of Marion. Starks did not appear. Mrs Dill suffered arm and knee injuries.
The Victory class of the Methodist Sunday school will hold a social meeting Wednesday evening September 6 at the home of Mrs. W. H. Wright on E Findlay Street. Mrs. Gladys Mitchell and Mrs. S. R. Bamne will be assisting hostesses.

The 97th Wyandot County Fair kicks off September 12 at 9:30 a.m. in Upper Sandusky with dairy cattle sheep swine and pony classes and a 7:30 p.m. White Horse Revue. Daily events include junior livestock judging trotting races talent from WGAR radio and senior parades with grandstand shows and public sales. Free chest X rays offered daily 2–6 p.m. and 6–8:45 p.m.
All members and families invited to a free party and dance on Tuesday September 5 at 8 p m in the Catholic hall. Sponsored by the Poverello Credit Union the event features movies singing round and square dancing and a card party with Rev William McKeown of Findlay as guest speaker.

The start date for kindergarten has moved from September 11 to September 18 at 1 00 PM. More children can enroll and four year olds are accepted. Children should bring one tablet one pencil and one box of crayons on opening day.
Carey resident Ivan Schmidt has purchased the registered Brown Swiss bull Lady's Buster Error 101972 from Philipp Laier of Findlay. The report comes from Fred S. Idtse secretary of the Brown Swiss Cattle Breeders association in Beloit Wisconsin.
