Mrs. I D Claude Killed In Truck Car Crash

Mrs. Alva Lois Laws Claude 69 died instantly in a Tuesday 12 20 a m crash two miles southeast of Carey on W U S 23 near her home. Husband Irving D Claude 62 critically injured. Truck driven by John R Peckham, 29, Mansfield, loaded with oxygen tanks, struck their 1951 Chevrolet. Peckham charged with second degree manslaughter. bond set at 1000. Services scheduled 2 p m at Crawford Methodist Church. Burial Spring Grove Cemetery.

Carey Exempted Village Public Schools Open Tuesday

The Carey Exempted Village Public Schools will open for the first session on Tuesday, Sept. 4, from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Buses will pick up rural children, and drivers must be notified if a child will ride home. First graders must be born before Nov 1, 1962 and immunization against polio, smallpox, diphtheria, whooping cough, and tetanus is required.

Montagues Buy New 3 Bedroom Home in Snyder Park

Karcher Family Arrives in Anaheim California

Mr and Mrs Bernard Karcher and children Michael Gary Cathy Cynthia Linda and Danny left Carey on August 1 for California arriving August 16 and living at 414 W Chartress They toured several states and Canada en route to the west and report an enjoyable trip Mr Karcher plans to join his brothers in business in Anaheim He was formerly a farmer southwest of Carey.

Carey Farmers Club Hosts Annual Corn Roast

About 70 members and their families attended the Carey Farmers Community Club corn roast at the Vanlue Community Park shelter house. Women prepared barbecued pork chops and other dishes for the menu.

Dream of Camps for Crippled Children at Camp Pittenger
