Ohio shuffleboard crowns 1959 state champions at Lakeside
Bruce Royer of Dayton Lakeside won the Men's Division title over 1958 champ Kent Galvin of Sandusky in a tight final at the Ohio State Shuffleboard Tournament held August 14 15 at Lakeside. Joyce Royer captured the Women’s Division defeating Elsie Hawkins. Consolation trophies went to Arnold Bushman and Elsie Long. Twenty three cities were represented by 64 entrants under Arch Donelson and Robert Schneider with Dr. Shirley Schneider supervising.

A head on crash on the Indiana turnpike near Elkhart killed Carl A. Fredritz 56 and his wife Thelma 49 of Tiffin and Agnes Wolfelt 44 of Fostoria. Also killed was the driver of a westbound car Bernice Harrigan 56 of Highland Park Michigan. Injured were Herman Wolfelt 46 and Christina 18 both of Indiana and Danny 5 of Ohio. Funeral services held in Tiffin and Fostoria. Survivors include children Richard, Sandra Neer and other relatives.
