Social events listed for Saturday August 29 include Mr and Mrs BE Thome guests east of town and Mrs Naomi Hunter at a Thome home. Dinner guests also noted for Findlay, Ann Arbor, and local families with several daughters mentioned.
Mr and Mrs E G Snyder and daughter Phyllis of this place, Mr and Mrs Elmer Hevelone of Beat Rice Neb and Mrs P O Shhearer and son Paul of Findlay were supper guests Thursday evening of last week of Mr and Mrs Ed Criger northwest of town.
Mrs. Susan Collet and her son Isadore extended dinner hospitality to Mrs. E W Braun and son Robert, Mrs. Marie Fetter and daughter Rita of Columbus, Miss Mary Braun, and Misses Rose and Marie Miller on Friday evening of last week.
Ninety four members and friends gathered Tuesday evening for the Tong Threshing Ring annual supper at Mr and Mrs C E Robison home southwest of town. Music came from members and a delicious supper featured coffee sandwiches watermelon and ice cream.
Members of the J. T. Myers family gathered Sunday for a picnic at Bowling Green city park. Attendees included Mr and Mrs J T Myers with daughters Frances Elizabeth Mary Jane and sons Theodore and John from west of town plus families from all directions including Rita Ann Barbara Donna Marjorie Ann Eugene from south Mary Louise from east and Charles with Dorothy Fleck from Bowling Green.
Sunday evening visitors included Mrs Ella Sheets of Monroe Michigan Mrs Frank Baldwin and family of Bellevue plus Mrs Russell Baldwin and Richard Mr Ben Morgan with Ruby Louise Lee of Findlay and E H Morgan group from Toledo Daisy Karcher Kirby Isabelle Wentzer Richard and Vernon Wentz also afternoon callers James Green from north of Carey and Mrs H F Wise with Cleora Wise near Wharton all gathered at the Wentz residence
Mrs Harry Bristoll hosted a Monday afternoon party at her W Findlay street home for Idella Mae Bristoll eighth birthday. Girls played games and enjoyed a 5 o clock lunch assisted by Bristoll’s sister Mrs Robert Kreisel. Guests included Vivian Pes sell Ruth Helen Hoff Norma Jean Gibson Betty Lee Haines Carol June Shane Marilyn Shane Jeanne Capell Marilyn Capell Mary Calista Newhard Marjorie Wolfrum Betty Lou ise Kitzler Alice Beebe Ruth Heck and the guest of honor Idella Mae Bristoll.
A Sunday pot luck dinner was held at the Henry Kemerley home in South Bend Indiana. Guests included Mr and Mrs Charles Kemerley and daughters Betty Marie and Louise along with Altin Henry Florence Those present also included many Kemerley relatives from Arlington Carey and other nearby areas.
Ray Hunter of Toledo was a Sunday guest of his mother, Mrs. Naomi Hunter.
At a Monday council meeting Mayor Campbell and seven councilmen discussed and approved numerous bills. The budget for 1932 was adopted and marshal salary increased from 30 to 100 dollars monthly upon new term. A sidewalk project in Eastern Heights was ordered and work to begin immediately.
Hoytville bank shuts Tuesday morning for the best interests of the depositors and places its affairs in the state banking department. The closure causes hardship as locals move banking business to nearby towns.
Members are urged to attend the regular meeting next Monday evening August 30 at the Moose hall. A program has been arranged and refreshments will be served.
The annual K of C picnic will be held next Sunday August 30 at Riester's grove west of Crawford. All members and their families are invited with games and amusements for everybody.
William M. Beck, 71, died suddenly from a cerebral hemorrhage and arteriosclerosis at his home 121 W. Jones St after a long illness. Born July 15, 1860 in Adrian, he married Rose Altweis in 1886 and left a widow, nine children, fifteen grandchildren, and a brother Thomas. Funeral at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church with Catholic Knights of Ohio membership noted.
A family gathering at Marion Ward's Sycamore home celebrated the golden wedding of Jonathan and Mrs Bachar. Married Aug 25, 1881, in Hancock county by Rev Frisbee, they lived on their farm since. Attendees from Mt Gilead Marion and Toledo brought gifts of gold.

District Deputy F W Maiberger installed the new K of C lodge officers at their hall Tuesday evening. Chaplain Rev Paul Vollrath, grand knight Theodore Myers, deputy grand knight F W N Schira, chancellor P M Collet, financial secretary Ira McKinnon, recorder C Steinmetz, warden William Myers, lecturer Phillip Noon, trustee H F Davidson, guards George Gehrt and Russell Thom named. Next regular meeting set for Tuesday evening September 8.
Rev Paul R Clouser of Christ Lutheran church has returned from vacation and will conduct morning worship at 10 30 this Sunday. Sunday school services have only been held for the past two weeks.
The Official Board of the M E church will convene Monday night at 8 oclock for the last meeting before the annual conference. Attendance of every member is mandatory.
Carey high school auditorium hosts Corporal Eagen a World War comedy next Monday and Tuesday under the American Legion. Proceeds aid welfare funds with a patriotic pageant My Dream of the Big Parade and Deacon Jones minstrel between acts. Cast includes Rob O Connor Vernal Healey and many local players with Sears tickets at Ewing's drug store.
The Rev D Myers, longtime pastor of Memorial Evangelical Church, is appointed to lead the Evangelical Church at Green Springs during the West Ohio conference in Marion. Other local appointments include Rev E D Paulin to Care and various pastors assigned to Elliston Elyria Ashland Findlay Upper Sandusky and Canton Grace. Dr D P L Caldwell of Findlay is re elected presiding elder of the Toledo district.
Mr and Mrs C Simonis and children Junior Billy and Nannette with Mrs Walter Miller of Toledo attended the 329th infantry reunion at Bowling Green. Laura Mitten and the Simonis families joined as veterans C Simonis and G V Simonis played in the 329th infantry band, which performed in a concert guard mount and regimental review.

An early fall wedding solemnized Tuesday morning at Our Lady of Consolation parish house united Miss Pauline Mathern and Russell Wickiser in a ring ceremony. After a two week motor trip the couple will reside with Wickiser’s father, while Carey merchants announce August 29 as 1931 Bargain Days with extensive store displays and many special one day prices to draw shoppers.

A third annual camp event brought together a group of 16 girls Tuesday and Wednesday at Camp Pumpkin Vine on the Wm. Peirce farm southwest of town. Activities included a Tuesday hike a campfire roast a cake walk and music with a Wednesday swim at Forest City Park followed by a group photo. The temporary wooden bridge near the new Three Mile Bridge is being removed and the new span is set to open to traffic about Sept 1. Dodge Hussey Inc contractors of Columbus completed concrete and steel work on the five span bridge while Frost Construction of Findlay handles approach work and permanent surface.
Thieves entered the Reynolds residence on E Findlay Street through a kitchen window and stole two watches and chains valued at about 200 dollars plus $23 in cash and food.
