Paul Boyer Dies After Short Illness in Cleveland

Paul Boyer aged 41 died at 2 00 am Saturday at his home in Cleveland after a two week illness from intestinal flu. He was born in Tiffin the son of Felix and the late mother. Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Consolation church with burial at St Marys cemetery. Survivors include his father two brothers four sisters and Edith Kitzler his wife whom he married in March 1917. He was a painter by trade and known as a musician in local orchestras.

Wyandot County Schools Plan Opening Dates

Wyandot County schools under Superintendent Ralph Broede will open on Labor Day for Eden Harpster Little Sandusky Marseilles McCutchenville Nevada Richland and Salem, on September 2 for Sycamore, and on September 8 for Antrim Mifflin Carey. Nine month terms apply except for Little Sandusky Mifflin and possibly Antrim. Some schools will handle their own books including Antrim Eden Harpster Marseilles Nevada Richland. In Carey books may be bought at Ew ing drug store and in McCutchenville Swerlein's general store and in Sycamore Shoemaker's general store. Little Sandusky Mifflin and Salem still lack provision.

Rural schoolhouse auction nets varied proceeds across district

The Carey board of education sold rural schoolhouses and land at public auction on Monday and Tuesday. Purchases included Stetler for 200 dollars and nearby buildings with land. several other sites fetched amounts from 15 to 460 dollars. One site, Nye, was not sold and will be readvertised.

John Smiley Injured in Steel Plant Accident

Mr. and Mrs. John Smiley, visiting from Johnstown Pennsylvania, describe injuries after a fall of 800 pounds of steel at a Bethlehem Steel project overseen by Roberts and Schaefer. Smiley warned co workers as rope broke and was struck on the left leg causing severe wounds, two months bedridden yet recovering with cane and expected full mobility. Dr. J. B. Lowman treated him in Johnstown.

Death of Columbus Grove matron Mrs Bennett at 84

Mrs H S Bennett of Columbus Grove dies Tuesday at 1:00 p m at her home aged 84 last March 22. Her husband died two years ago at 89. Her daughter Mrs Scott McKinnon of this place assists her. Funeral at 2:00 p m today at Columbus Grove. Family members and relatives attend from this place and Bucyrus to the services.

Record Pilgrimage Draws Thousands to Shrine Services

Thirty five thousand pilgrims visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation for a novena of solemn services closing last Sunday. Nearly twenty five thousand attended Friday the Feast of the Assumption. Crowds from Europe Asia and the Americas joined in processions and prayers in multiple languages.
