Freshmen pre-registration at the High School Building last year reduced opening day delays. Students and staff benefit from advance schedules and placement planning. This year’s pre-registration is set for Saturday August 28 in Room 4 to involve parents or guardians in course decisions.

Kitzler Family Led Carey Coal Docks Since 1906

Felix A. Kitzler has been foreman at the Carey coal docks since 1906 and earned praise from superiors for his record. His father Frank also served as foreman from 1885. The plant now uses an automatic hoist and crusher with seventy tons per hour capacity, surplus bins of 500 tons, and daily loading of 300 to 400 tons into engines. A new conveyor was installed under J. P. Conley of Columbus, Ohio, supervision.

The Domestic Art Club held a meeting on Friday August 6 with all but three members answering roll call. Members were to bring all garments made this term to the final meeting. Games were played and refreshments served at the home of Miss Audrey Tong on Friday August 20.

The 20th annual Tong family reunion was held at Carey Park on August 14 with nearly 100 attending. Record crowds attend Shrine pilgrimage in village

On the Feast of the Assumption a large pilgrimage gathered at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation with an estimated 25 000 visitors and 19 000 in a Sunday procession. Priests heard confessions for extended hours and Masses ran nonstop. Special meals were served. traffic was heavy yet no accidents were reported. Clergy from multiple cities joined the event.
