Jaycees Help Add Kiddie Play Area at Memorial Park

Carey Jaycees and JayCeeJays donated labor for a fenced Memorial Park kiddie play area. They installed 10 cartoon figures after 67 hours of work, painting and shaping them. materials cost 37.68 dollars. They also bought a teeter totter and swinging gate for 79.67 dollars. Co chairs Earl Schmitz and Lawrence Mates plan two large candy cane entrance accents.

Home of James Troiano Broken Into. Ring Missing

Thieves ransacked a bedroom at the Troiano residence on S Patterson Street while the family was away. A diamond ring and valuable papers were reported missing. Neighbors found the break Friday and police are investigating. entry was gained by cutting a back door screen.

Carey Man Involved In Minor Collision

David Ealey of south of Carey was in a two car crash at 2:10 p.m. Monday at the intersection of U S Route 224 and State Route 330 about 10 miles east of Findlay. Ealey northbound on Route 330 reportedly stopped then entered the path of a westbound vehicle driven by Otto Hellwege 58 of Cuyahoga Falls. Both cars were moderately damaged with no injuries. Ealey was cited to appear in Findlay Municipal Court on a failure to yield right of way charge.

Families Return From Trip To Western States

Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Williams with their sons Neil and Keith and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Williams with daughters Linda Donna Dianne and Elizabeth arrived home Friday night from a three week Western vacation. They visited Yellowstone Zion Grand Canyon Petrified Forest Painted Desert the Ozarks and the Navajo Indian Reservation. They enjoyed a two day visit at Ash Fork Arizona with relatives Russell Williams and his wife. The families also spent six days in San Diego California.

Mike Lynch president of the Carey Hi Y Club and Roger Dible vice president spent a week at Camp Nelson Dodd near Danville. The Ohio YMCA provided the Nelson Dodd training camp for Hi Y and Tri Hi Y youth leaders to improve leadership skills. The Dibles are listed as sons of local residents.

Route 53 Closure For Tymochtee Creek Bridge Repairs

Wyandot county shuts part of Route 53 Monday for major Tymochtee Creek bridge work by C. P. Calaway Toledo at a cost of 47 950.35 dollars. James F. Roose, division engineer, says a new concrete deck will be poured with substructure reinforcement and approach slabs and railing replaced. Detours route motorists via Routes 103, 23 and 509 until completion set for November 30, 1961.

John Edward Ziebarth 61 of Carey died unexpectedly at Blanchard Valley Hospital at a.m. Sunday Aug. 13 from coronary thrombosis. He was president of Carey Handle and Lumber Co and member of multiple societies and clubs. Survived by wife Pearl Langhorst, son Charles, daughters Elaine Parker and Gloria Doherty, five grandchildren, and brother Charles. Hospital Board Praised for Excellent Records and Operation

The Wyandot Memorial Hospital Board of Governors received a State Auditor report praising the hospital's records as excellent and the overall operation as efficient. The July occupancy was 98.14 percent with 163 admissions, 131 discharges, 176 outpatients, and 59 emergency patients.

Mrs Coy Reynolds to join husband in Arkansas

Mrs Coy Reynolds of 655 W Findlay Street left Wednesday for Akron to visit her son James Reynolds and his family Debbie Paula and James Bradford. Ohio Vocational Agriculture Teachers Attend Camp Muskingum Workshop

Carl Cupp a Carey High School vocational agriculture instructor attends a four day workshop at Camp Muskingum sponsored by the State Vocational Agriculture department. Charges Filed In Upper Sandusky Break-In Case

Philip N. Clark 19 and a 17 year old companion were arrested Aug 7 on charges of breaking and entering Reed's Carry-Out Store in Upper Sandusky. Police found Clark near the scene and the juvenile in a nearby car. Beer and wine were stolen. Clark waived exam and goes to the Wyandot county grand jury with a $1000 bond. The juvenile was placed on probation and had his license suspended for 1961-1962. Burl Reed filed the complaint.

Bishop Rehring Leads Mass at Carey Shrine Pilgrimage

The Most Reverend George J. Rehring of Toledo celebrated a Solemn Mass at the shrine park ending nine days of preparation for the Feast of the Assumption. A candlelight procession preceded the Mass as thousands gathered, with about 50 buses expected from Youngstown Canton and Akron for August observances.

The Mohawk F F A chapter met August 7 with Kenneth Karcher presiding. The county fair float was discussed. Fred Lundy and Kenneth Snyder received gilt-chain gifts from the chapter. County softball tournament dates were set for August 8 and 29, and Mohawk will attend the Cleveland Detroit baseball game in Cleveland on August 22. Softball served as recreation and refreshments were served.

Bitten by Rat Infant Suffered No Ill Effects

Sandra Jo Marshall two month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Eugene Marshall of North Vance Street was bitten on the finger by a rat. The incident occurred Tuesday night when the rat jumped from the crib. The finger laceration was treated and the baby sustained no further illness.

William T. Weisenborn of Marion and Bruce Wesker of Reed Township seek the 8th District seat on the state board of education. They filed petitions with the Marion County Board of Elections to replace Charlton Myers, who is not seeking re election. Weisenborn is a 41 year old consultant engineer with 20 years in the field. Wesker is a Scipio Republic board trustee and NOBA field rep known for Holstein cattle work. The contest is for a six year term.

Delbert Roller and Wife Injured in Route 330 U S 224 Crash

Delbert Roller 86 and his wife Sarah 82 of route 2 Fostoria were injured in a collision at 735 p.m. Tuesday of last week at the SR 330 and US 224 intersection. Both suffered fractures of the right arm with Mr Roller also sustaining a left knee fracture. Mrs Roller bruised right shoulder and leg. Mary Lou Marquart 29 route 3 Findlay was cited for failure to yield and treated for a bruised left leg. Mrs Roller uses a walker after a prior hip fracture.

Carey Boys Set for State Junior Olympics Meet

Nine local boys will compete in the state junior Olympics meet at Hiram on Saturday. Organized by the Ohio Jaycees, participants include Tommy Myers, Tommy Tucker, David Yeoman, Joe Fabiani, Nick Long, Jeff Snowberger, Larry Gibson, Steve Gibson and Ralph Wentling, selected after June’s local Olympics.

The Wyandot County Fair will receive 9784 07 from the state for 1961, per state auditor James O Rhodes. Funds come from the Ohio Fairs Fund, a legislature appropriation, and a tax on pari mutuel betting at each fair track. A 1960 New York City report lists following too closely, failure to yield, intoxication, excessive speed, and ignoring signals as top causes, with jaywalking as the main pedestrian fault.

Police Court Bonds Forfeited In Drunk Driving Case

Police court records show Clyde Jenkins declaring two bonds of 200 dollars each for August 9 forfeiture after defendants failed to appear on drunk driving charges. Accused include Roger L.
