A reader extols a sunken mud hole by the Vance and Main intersection. They claim the pit near the drinking fountain improves sanitation and aids drivers making the turn from West Main to North Vance, even when hitching rails and pedestrians crowd the crossing.
After filing for a receiver, The Liberty Tire Corp. lists additional plaintiff W J Ingram alongside George Ash James Shuman and Wesley Patterson. The action seeks court appointment to manage the company's affairs.
On Friday August 4 in Monroe Michigan Mrs Ollie Arnold of Vanlue and Mr Russell Greer of Carey were married. The bride is daughter of Gus Breitigam and Mrs Breitigam of Vanlue. The groom is son of Policeman and Mrs Andy Greer of this city. Greer worked recently at LeMont Minnesota near Chicago.
About 0 attended the Haines family reunion at the park Saturday. Mr. Snyder of Tiffin born in Maryland near the original homestead gave an interesting talk. W. G. Payne proprietor of the Carey restaurant was elected president Ferrel Haines of McQuickenville secretary and Ella Gillett treasurer. Next reunion will be at the park on the second Saturday in August 1923.
Wednesday at 4 00 PM Joe Simonis aged 76 died at his Frederick Street home after a year and a half of illness and 15 weeks bedfast. Survivors include his wife two daughters Mrs Cora Albright of San Francisco and Mrs SS Yingling of this city one son Harry of Lancaster three brothers John of Minden Nevada F J of this city and William a Trappist brother at Gethsemane Ky and three sisters Mrs Henry Fetter Upper Sandusky Mrs J C Down and Mrs Charles McGill of Carer Funeral services set for Friday at 1 30 PM from the residence.
Asphalt dressing has begun on the waterbound segment between here and Lovell. Preparation will be done at the National Lime Stone Co. plant and applied at 1000 feet per day. The road will be partially closed for about two months, with an immediate closure from the Ranger road to Lovell. Traffic has been tearing out stone at several spots.
Emory Yohe, son of Mr and Mrs J L Yohe, came home last Friday from Logan West Virginia with a badly bruised knee. The knee had two drainage tubes but he is improving steadily.

State central committee members elected in Tuesday's primary from the eighth district are both from Wyandot county. Charles V. Truax of Sycamore is a Democrat and Charles H. Lewis of Harpster is a Republican.
Marriage licenses were issued at Monroe on Thursday to Helma Leona Bare and Roscoe A. Ekleberry both of Sycamore. Stella Miller of Bellefontaine and George W. Drummonds, a Carey fireman, were also licensed.

Three persons were injured when an automobile overturned on Garey road six miles southeast of here. Mrs. Harry Scheib suffered severe bruises while her husband and Mrs. Sara Jane McCumber received minor injuries. They were taken to the Scheib home for care after the crash following tire blowouts.
Our Lady of Consolation parish women served about 3000 people over Sunday through Tuesday. Meals were prepared on hot plates and eaten in a pavilion near the church with many pilgrims bringing meals. The Pilgrim House dining room pressed to capacity and town restaurants ran bustling. Visitors ate at private homes as well.
A special meeting at the Galt Restaurant on Thursday evening August 17 at 7 00 will organize a Legion picnic and a football team and appoint delegates to the state convention. Attendees are urged to attend and cooperate in these matters.
Miss Della Gilliland attended the funeral of Mrs Hosea Jones of Radnor who died following an operation at Mt Carmel Hospital Columbus. Jones born Cora Davids, survived by husband three sons parents two sisters and three brothers. Gilliland then visited an Ada schoolmate in Marion.
Mrs George Perkins, Miss Helen Perkins, Miss Iva Fssex and Mr Neil Perkins return from Chicago with Mr Earl Harris of Toledo. Neil recently graduated from Moody Bible Institute and spoke at Calvary Lurker Church where Dr BO Luther Span is pastor.
Forest travels to play Carey Tires after Forest defeated the Tires 3 to 0 on July 23. Carey seeks revenge as the Tire lineup features Twining at catcher Bland on the mound Stombaugh at first Trubey at second R Donelson Myers at third A Donelson in left England in center Essex in right.
In a federal case filed Wednesday Milo Jordan Walter V Peters and Clark W Thomas seek a receiver for Liberty Tire Corp of Carey. They claim 2200 dollars and aim to move proceedings from local court. Milo Jordan of Cleveland is president and a nephew of Irvin Jordan. Peters also from Cleveland supervised fabric factory building and Thomas a Findlay printer who did work for the firm.
The W. H. and F. M. S. of the United Evangelical church met Tuesday evening. Devotionals were led by vice president Mrs. I E Copley, with a lesson by president Mrs. Henry Damon titled What the World Needs. Mrs. Mary Stroup read How Pulling Teeth Helped a Missionary to Preach the Gospel. Mrs. Virgil Green and Mrs. Cora Hart led the discussion. The society voted to furnish a room in the Beverley Ky missionary hospital and began plans to raise funds. Next meeting is the third Tuesday in September.
The Carey band concerts draw large crowds on Wednesday evenings. Mrs Hes ter Ingels sang last night despite a cold but will perform next week. Mr George Billhardt of Upper Sandusky, popular with Carey audiences, sang yesterday.
The eighth annual Fox and Mitten reunion at Cares Park on Sunday August 13 drew large attendance. At noon a dinner was served and officers for the coming year were elected: W. D. McDonald president, Mark Mitten vice president, Bertha Mitten secretary, and Rose Fox treasurer.
Regular meeting held Thursday night to transact important business. Members urged to be prepared for the session and to attend.
The Strand theatre shows progress with a steel ceiling now installed and walls redecorated. Theatre manager Trary leads improv efforts as seating in the rear was raised from a level to an incline.
Mrs. A. J. Kimmel undertakes remodeling of the barn behind Mr. Kimmel’s Dow street residence into a dwelling facing Ash Avenue. The project converts a former outbuilding into a new home structure on the property.
The shrine closing on Tuesday drew the largest crowd yet with 6000 visitors from rail, auto, and bus. Masses and sermons were offered in English Syrian Polish Hungarian and Slavish. A candle procession led by Bishop Stritch of Toledo wound through the city as priests and Sisters joined the devout crowd.
Harvey Kemmerley and James Miller of Carey faced Judge Charles F. Close in common pleas court on assault and battery charges over an attack on Carl Poindexter, a railroad guard. Miller, already under a suspended robbery sentence, was fined 25 dollars plus costs and received 50 days in jail. Kemmerley was fined 25 dollars plus costs, released after payment, with a jail hold until fines and costs are paid.
Mr and Mrs Truman Cole and other families from Carey, Bristolville, and local residents spent Sunday at Lakeside. The group included Opal, Har tht, and Har tht, plus Russell Hoy and brothers from Bristolville who joined for a two week visit home, following a week at the Epworth League convention.
Burson and Kurtz clothiers purchase Grubb clothing store in Sycamore. Hoe Wovatt from The Wing Drug Co will manage. Store remodel planned and reopening date set for Saturday August 20.
