Carey Cooperative Food Lockers expands with 240 units

The Carey Cooperative Food Lockers Inc announces 240 lockers are installed at their S. Vance street plant. Patrons are advised not to store produce or meats until notified. More lockers will be added to reach 600, with arrivals announced in rental order. Other plant staff include Mrs. Chadwick, Dean Powell, Eugene Schreiner, and Charles Welly.

Rebekah School of Instruction Held in Kenton

District No. 17 met at Florentine Lodge with 154 attendees. Officers elected included Erma Trumpheller and Rose Johnson, while Cora Dunlap and Anna Henderson led the afternoon session. Miss Nora B. Kagy missed due to illness after decades of service.

Ex GI Completes 6 Month Training At Toledo Barber College

Stanley Montague, after 30 years in the US Army, finished a six month training course at Toledo Barber College in Toledo. He returned to Carey months ago and now assists his father Roy Montague at Montague's barber shop. He assumed his new duties Saturday, August 3.

Huston Left for Europe on Three Month Trip

V H Huston departed Carey Wednesday night for New York City to start a three month European journey. He will travel via TWA to Paris and visit England France Switzerland Belgium Luxembourg and Germany returning November 11. His son Pfc Clarence Huston was killed January 20 1945 near Sessenheim France and Mr Huston plans to investigate the circumstances of his death.

Fisherman’s 16-Pound Turtle Bites Angler in Carey

Charles J Thom of South Vienna, a former Carey resident, spent a weekend fishing in Tymochtee creek. He captured a 16-pound turtle and brought it to Carey, where the animal suddenly bit his right arm above the wrist, inflicting two ugly wounds but leaving him not seriously injured.

Pvt John Shaffer of Carey received an honorable discharge from the U S army on July 21 at Fort Meade Maryland. He served nine months and was stationed at Camp Lee Virginia at the time of discharge.

The Carey Kiwanis club met at Johnson's golf course near Findlay Monday evening. Supper was served after the game in the clubhouse. President Gail Newell presided over a brief business meeting. S. W.
