Multiple reunions announced with dates in late August and early September. Swerlein and Bachar families hold gatherings at Carey park in Upper Sandusky and Toledo. Others include Savidge Burson in Carey park and Newcomer at Oak Grove church with presidents secretaries named.
The Wyandot County Historical and Archaeological Society presents a mammoth outdoor pageant at Harrison Smith Park Upper Sandusky on August 20 and 21 at 8 PM. 300 characters reenact history with soldiers and Indians, amplified voices, a 40 piece band, and elevated seating. Admission is 50 cents.
The coming week schedule lists games hosted by Methodists against K on Thursday and Lutherans on Friday. Monday features Legion versus KK and Tuesday has Methodists versus Legion. All games start at 6 30 and the public is invited.
Rev. O. D. Myers pastor of Memorial Evangelical church and delegate A. E. Constien will leave Tuesday for Canton to attend the 92nd session of the Ohio Conference of the Evangelical Church starting Wednesday August 21. Bishop S. B. Spreng will preside. Myers serves on the conference chorus and finance committee.
A worker at the Lime & Stone Co plant lost a finger while handling a packet at the site on Monday. The incident occurred during routine operations and details of the injury are being reviewed by plant officials.
Little Zender girl born December 14 1927 in Carey died at home Sunday morning aged 1 year 7 months 27 days after seven weeks illness. Survived by parents brothers and many sisters. funeral held at Our Lady of Consolation Church Carey with four little girls as pallbearers and burial in St Marys cemetery. relatives attended from Risingsun Glandorf Tiffin Cleveland Dayton Adrian Marion and more.

Earl D Moore of Forest died at his home Monday afternoon from a revolver bullet in his head in the garage. He was born October 10 1880 and married Olive Beck in 1909, with no children. Surviving relatives include his siblings John Moore Stella Garber Raoma Brayon and Annetta Edwards. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 pm at St Paul Evangelical Church south of Vanlue conducted by Rev Paul R Clouser.
Joseph V. Braun of 703 Lucas Place was overcome by the heat at Fourth and Gather streets. He fell, suffering a broken left collar bone, and Patrolman Eugene Horan took him to City Hospital where he was admitted for treatment. Doctors reported the condition not serious after admission. The thermometer showed 86 degrees that afternoon. Braun is the son of the late Ferdinand Braun. his sister Mary lives on Clay Street.
Miss Anna Calmes daughter of Mr and Mrs Ed Calmes near Mc Cutchenville enters the Visitation convent in Toledo to become a cloistered nun. She has many friends in Carey where she worked as an operator at the Home Telephone exchange.
A. G. Collet as trustee in bankruptcy sold the W. H. Rickle farm, 131.04 acres south of town, for 13 650 dollars. The sale occurred Wednesday of last week through sealed bids and attracted multiple offers. John .ox. purchased the property in the sealed bid sale.
Crawford chapter No 168 G and S will hold an Eastern Star meeting in the Eastern Star room Friday at 8 o clock.
A large crowd gathers at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation for a pilgrimage. Weather is unusually favorable. Notable groups include 50 from St Anthony's Louiseville led by Fridolin Stauble, 359 Knights of Columbus from Monroe, 150 from Alliance, and about 500 on an excursion train from Columbus. Visitors arrive by train, auto and bus.
On Saturday at 11 in the Methodist parsonage Miss Alice Laura Savidge wed Harold J. Wilcox in a simple ceremony read by Rev. J. B. Sheillans. The couple, unattended, plan a southern Ohio wedding trip then reside in Fostoria where the groom works at National Carbon.
The Women’s Home and Foreign Missionary Society of Christ Lutheran Church met at the parsonage on Wednesday afternoon for a missionary tea. Mrs. F. A. Galhroner opened the meeting as “The Church’s One Foundation” was sung. Mrs. Edward Riester led devotions and soloist Mrs. Ross Johnson performed “The Little Church in the Vale.” Mrs. W. G Bradley led the day’s lesson, assisted by Mrs. J. D. Ewing, Mrs. Byron Ogg, and Mrs. I. L. Culler. Lucille Montague played a piano solo before the missionary benediction and refreshments were served.
Charles Kentfield and Rozelle Brown married on Saturday morning in Newport Kentucky. Kentfield is the son of Mrs. Mary Kentfield of Frederick Street and Brown is the daughter of Robert Brown from south of town. They are living with Brown's mother at present.
The Jennie Larmonth Missionary Society will convene Monday evening with Miss Gertrude Yohe. Mrs. Forest Dame serves as assisting hostess and Mrs. Alva Criger and Mrs. Louis Altwater will lead the lessons.
The Modern Woodmen of Wyan dot county will hold a picnic for members and their families at the Upper Sandusky fair grounds on Labor Day. All members are invited to attend with their families.
The village council in regular session Monday, chaired by Mayor Byers, approved numerous bills from utilities, repairs, and labor totaling various small amounts. The mayor's July report was read and accepted, showing fines, licenses, and a small balance due. The meeting adjourned to August 26 at 7 30 p.m.
The local W. C. T. U. met Friday evening chaired by President Mrs. L. M. Cook on Dow Street. Mrs Elza Jacobs read scripture and Mrs A. J. King led in prayer. Officers elected: President Mrs. Cook, vice president Mrs. Anna Snyder, corresponding secretary Mrs. Elmer Wonder, recording secretary Miss Della Gilli, treasurer Mrs. L. G. Ranger. Superintendent appointments followed across several departments.
Mrs J W Siddall of Findlay, age 85, attended a family dinner with her son Dr J D Siddall as they marked the birthday. Also present was Mrs Jy-Zint who will be 85 this month. The guest is described as healthy and active and connected to a long-lived family. Two weeks earlier she joined the celebration of her brother Henry Milamore's 93rd birthday at his Findlay home.
A barn and machine shed on Barney Coldiron’s farm near Springville burned Wednesday shortly before noon. Most machinery was destroyed. The fire’s origin is undetermined. Harry Sauders of Fostoria owns the farmland and some insurance coverage is noted.
Voters in Carey select Campbell over Byers for mayor with 53 to 29 as multiple wards report ballots in Precincts A through E. Mayor A F Byers has received from John M Vorys Ohio director of aeronautics the formal notice and regulations for air-marking required by the new law. Air-marking is a municipal duty with expenses borne by the treasury or a civic group. The work aims to aid flyers in all weather as a convenience and potential life saver.
An 8-pound daughter was born Tuesday night to Mr and Mrs Nial Hunter of Newhard Street. A 6-pound daughter arrived Tuesday at Kenton hospital to Mr and Mrs Lloyd Caldwell of Wharton, formerly Miss Martha Grady. Mrs Fred Mitchell announced the Wednesday morning birth of twins, a son and a daughter, to Mr and Mrs Floyd Huston of Fostoria.
Mayor A F Byers was notified by the Chief of Police that a Nah sedan found at Ed Riester's farm south of town belongs in Shelby.
The Knights of Columbus plan another park dance on Thursday evening August 22. Local organizers invite members and guests to attend the social event at the park venue.
Lydia May Schuet z was born at McCutchenville August 20 1868 and died at home after four months heart trouble. She married Frank Yambert in 1887 and leaves six children Cecil Cay Charles Yambert Glyde Dike berry and Dallas Ruehle, with three children predeceased. Surviving sister is Mrs Ernest Updegraff of Lima. Funeral Thursday at 10 at home with Rev Burchin of Hast Mansfield officiating. Burial Bethel cemetery.
Mt. Victory hosts 50 guests for the golden wedding anniversary on August 7 with a wedding ceremony and rice shower. Carey attendees include Mrs. Burson and Mrs. Stoll. 57 guests total, noting ages and a listed death in the family.
Mr and Mrs L M Reinlinger traveled to Fostoria Tuesday evening. He returned that night while she stayed to accompany her brother Martin Frisch to Ottawa for the funeral of Mrs Jemina Funk on Wednesday.
