Young People Elect Officers for Year

Members of the Methodist Youth Fellowship elected new officers for the year last Sunday evening. Presiding were Phyllis Ulrich as president, Norma Jean Coldren as worship and evangelism chair, Ruth Heck as assistant, and Robert Mapes as World Friendship chairman with Marilyn Shane as assistant. Other leaders include Judy Frederick as community service chair with Barbara Kitzler as assistant, Nadine Gibson as recreation chair with Elaine Thomegant and Margaret Montague as assistants, Orma Jean Gibson as secretary, Clarence Huston as treasurer, Rex Huston and Maurice Wonder on stamp committee, and Hlaine Thome as pianist with Barbara Kitzler as assistant. choristers are Margaret Montague and Jacqueline Mapes.

Kiwanis Outing For Carey School Children

On Monday August 25 Kiwanis members will take Carey school district children to Meadowbrook park Bascom for an evening of fun including cats swimming movies and rides. Eligible crippled and underprivileged children will be included with meals provided by the school. Registration at Ewing drug store August 7 to 16 and assemble before the high school at 5:00 p m. Swimming gear available or suits provided.

Eagles representatives attend national convention in Milwaukee

Carey Aerie No. 2198 Fraternal Order of Eagles will be represented in Milwaukee at the Grand Aerie national convention by Cecil Presler and George Mathern. They depart before the opening session on Thursday August 14 and return after the convention closes on Monday August 18. A highlight will be the parade on Sunday August 17.

Carey Schools Band Picnic and Swimming Party

The Carey Schools band will travel to Bascom for a picnic supper and swimming party Friday evening. All regular summer concert attendees are eligible to go. Junior band members Calvin Thome Stanley Van Buren Donald Woods Carl Michael Gottfried Donald Markley and Jacquelyn Kirkwood may accompany the group. The bus will leave the high school at 5 30 p.m. The picnic ends the band’s summer activities.

Football Uniforms Report Dates Announced

All boys who are now working must report for football uniforms on Monday or Tuesday August 18 or 19 at 5 30 p m to be ready for practice when school begins. All other days report Wednesday at 6 30 p m. Coach Blose.

New Hunting Laws Adopted In Ohio Regulate Trapping And Seasons

The Ohio Conservation and Natural Resources Commission approved fall and winter hunting and trapping rules. Squirrel season splits into two zones with different open dates, trap tagging is required, and trap use is restricted near roads and dwellings. Fire-starting near game cover is forbidden. Open seasons include rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, red fox, and ring neck pheasant with various county stagings. gray fox has no bag limit.

4-H Livestock Judging Tour Planned for Wyandot County

Wyandot county 4 H club members will hold an educational livestock judging tour Friday August 15 assisted by L P McCann from Ohio State University. Stops include Riester Dow farm for Spotted Poland China hogs Mark H Karr farm for Shropshire sheep Burson Ward farm for Angus cattle and C A Wentz Son farm for Belgian mares. Top three scorers will form the Wyandot state fair judging team.

Carey visit brings Harris and Bra shares to Brashares home

Seventeenth Wyandot County Draft Group Leaves for Fort Hayes

Seventeen young men from Wyandot County with names from Carey Upper Sandusky Nevada Sycamore and Wharton left on the 28th selective call for Fort Hayes induction. Among those listed were Fredericks Donald Crist and Ralph Zender with most accepted. Eldon Dame and Junior Holdcraft were rejected. One enlistment altered the roster, Backensto joining Marines, completing the 17 again. Two Carey men later went on call No 24 by train to Fort Hayes. Columbus resident Frank was deferred.

Hickel Family Reunites at West Street Home

The 16th Hickel reunion gathered 30 guests from Dunkirk Upper Sandusky Tiffin and McCutchenville at Hobart Tong home on West Street. Recovery Expected After Georgia Accident Injuries

John Nelson of Carey remains hospitalized in Monroe Georgia with a broken back and arm a punctured bladder and other injuries. Doctors expect his recovery. His wife and her daughter Vonita Vaughn are nearly fully recovered from their injuries.

Four professed arrive at Carey for philosophy study

Four seminarians professed last Monday at St. Anthony Novitiate Angola Indiana, led by Very Rev Ann M C, arrive at Our Lady of Carey Seminary to begin philosophy courses. Friar Aloysius Jacoby son of Mr and Mrs John Jacoby of Lake Street is among them. others include Friars Boniface Blanco Conrad Schweibold and Donald Schiffit. A sixth member is due to arrive at Carey around September 1.

Caldwell family to move to Chicago for new job

Mr and Mrs R L Caldwell, longtime residents of the J R Caldwell farm 60 miles southwest of Carey, plan to move to Chicago next week where Caldwell will take a job with Armour Packing company. Their daughter Luella will live with her maternal grandparents in Upper Sandusky until graduation. The Caldwell farm will be occupied by Mr and Mrs Allen Fruth.

Visitors return from Fort Belvoir trip via West Virginia

Mr and Mrs W E Cole and daughter Joan and Mrs Irvin Went ling returned home Tuesday night from a motor trip to Fort Belvoir Virginia and Washington DC. At Fort Belvoir they visited Mrs Went ling's son Pvt Velmer Went ling. The Carey people traveled through West Virginia and paused at the Gettysburgh battlefield in Pennsylvania.
