Carey Board Hires Teachers for 1942-44 Term

At the regular meeting of the Carey board of education several new teachers were employed for the 1942-44 term. Lloyd Taylor begins as vocational agricultural instructor August 1 and Mary Bergman will teach home economics starting September 1. Gail Cooperrider will handle chemistry and sciences, Wilden Lyden will tutor mathematics, Stephanie Robinson will teach history and girls physical education, and A. E. Constien will teach elementary grades. One vacancy remains for an elementary teacher in intermediate grades. A list of books and supplies will appear in next week’s Carey Times.

Wyandot County Fair Dates Set for September 14–17 1943

Secretary Harry Hudson of the Wyandot County Fair association in Carey completes arrangements for the fair at Upper Sandusky fairgrounds September 14 to 17, 1943. Buildings have been repainted, and a large sign announcing the dates will be posted at Findlay and Vance. Membership tickets at 1.50 each will be sold by FFA and 4-H members, four admissions per ticket and free grounds admission for the holder’s automobile while a ticket remains valid.

Richard Brown an airplane mechanic and U S Army Air Corps member flew over Carey at about 8 20 Tuesday evening in a single engine Army plane. He called his parents Mr and Mrs Ralph Brown of southwest of Carey from Port Clinton where the crew stopped for two hours to inform them he would fly over Carey.
