At the park last Thursday pairs competed in seven events with top prizes of five three and one points. Benny DeAmicis and Chuck Kitzler tied for first with Mike DeAmicis and Denny Turley at 14 points per pair. Bruce Richards and Roger Smiley held third with ten points. a separate tennis series concluded with Mark Kessler winning the singles and Sally Campbell runner-up. The next round starts Monday ahead of a two week session. Aug 18 marked last supervised play day with Aug 19 ending a ten week program supervised by Miss Nancy Combine assisted by Mrs Clement Hoepf and Tom Saunders.

Mr and Mrs Dean Ashley of San Jose Costa Rica spent Monday as guests of Mr and Mrs Earl H LeMott. They are vacationing in the United States en route from Florida to Michigan and will sail from San Francisco for home. Mr Ashley once lived here and graduated from Carey High School in 1919. He retired after 30 years as an auditor in Firestone Plantations Division in Liberia Africa.

Construction on State Route 15 over the Blanchard River three miles east of Findlay begins Monday August 15. Blazer and Gilchrist Inc of Huron won the contract for 122579 dollars and 32 cents for a new bridge deck elevation and culverts to prevent flooding. The bridge will be widened with safety curbs while original steel remains with additions. Route 15 will be closed with a detour to be announced. project completion is set for about November.
