Many to Attend Fall Pilgrimage At Our Lady Shrine
The Solemn Novena to Our Lady at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation attracts a large crowd with pilgrim trains from Columbus Cleveland Toledo and Youngstown. Officials expect over 50000 attendees as masses run daily from 5:00 am to noon and grand processions are scheduled for August 14 15 and 21 with candle vigils through August 15.

An unusual exhibit at Hutslar’s shoe store features two size 34 shoes originally made for Robert Wadlow of Alton Illinois. Wadlow, now 20, stands 8 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 460 pounds. The shoes, made two years ago, have since become too small as Wadlow has grown to size 36. The display will run about 10 days.

Riester Wins School Bus Contract After Board Vote
The Carey board of education awarded Edw. Riester & Son the pupil transportation contract for six buses meeting Ohio specifications. Bids from Wesley Patterson and Cy M Hosack were opened. McDaniel Motor Sales to supply buses with International chassis and Bender or Superior bodies. The three-year contract runs at $127 per month per bus with new routings planned before school opens.
