Garl Daymon 22 of North Baltimore dies when a car overturns in a ditch two miles north of Mantler. Robert Wilkinson, son of George Wilkinson, editor of the North Baltimore Beacon, injured in the same crash and hospitalized at Napoleon. Daymon’s funeral set for Tuesday at North Baltimore Central Church of Christ with burial at Maple Grove. Daymon married Doris Brubaker in 1930 and is survived by his parents and siblings.
Carey residents will cast ballots next Tuesday at Precinct A Miles Mullholand office, Precinct B town hall, Precinct C Carey Creamery, Precinct D 1st door north of Gottfried Bros, Precinct EB farmers cream station, Crawford A township room, Crawford B Sauser's store. Vote to set a Carey records.
Mr and Mrs John E Maenle assumed charge of the Reynolds filling station on E Findlay street last Saturday The Standard Oil Co gas and oils will be sold at the station which has long enjoyed good patronage The Maenles who wed July 19 have furnished the living quarters there and will reside above the station Mrs Maenle was formerly Miss Frances Puchta
The annual Findlay Findlay camp meeting at Byal Park opens this evening and runs through Sunday evening August 17. Rev C E Butler and Rev and Mrs W Heslip lead services. N V Vandall directs music with Miss Florence Erving as pianist. V Thomas chairs the gathering with George Egbert as secretary. Public invitation extended.
A Tuesday night shower blessed Carey from 1139 until morning, barely soaking the sun-baked ground to an inch depth. Despite humidity building over four days, the heat remains oppressive, though residents express gratitude for the rain.
Record shows two base hits by R Donelson Myers L Keckler Pumbell Nye and three base hits by Stewart Myers L Keckler Calmes. Deerwester struck out 2 and Keckler 5. Deerwester allowed 3 bases on balls and 16 hits while Keckler allowed 1 walk and 11 hits.
The Merchants lead the league with 6 wins in 7 games. The Hubachs are second with 4 wins and 3 losses. The Meth odists and the Legion tie for third with 2 wins and 6 losses.
A 19 year old Carey boy is slated to speak next Sunday evening at an Arlington open air meeting. Mr Straw from Williams College Mass is a young graduate and a famed debater who helped Yale and others beat rival teams. He will present a scholarly address arguing the dangers of modern materialistic philosophy and religious education. The Arlingtonian urges attendees to hear for themselves a product of today’s system.
A union service of Protestant churches is set for Sunday at 8:00 pm in the basement of the Methodist church. The Harvest drama will be presented by two Anti-Saloon League representatives and two local residents with Rev. H B Pilchard of Toledo in the lead and Rev. C J Yiesley assisting. Local pastors will lead the devotionals.

Telegram announced the death of Mrs. David Nishwitz of Piqua after a fall last week left her with a fractured hip. Mr. and Mrs. Combs and daughters Treva and Dorothy traveled to attend the funeral held today. The Nishwitzs celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last October.
A committee led by H. C. Wonder and others from this locality met the county auditor on Monday to request a reduction in farmland valuations for taxation. The move targets a 20 percent cut across 26 counties and is viewed favorably here.
In the Carey market wheat has advanced 10 since last Thursday. Oats are up 8 cents and first grade eggs 4 cents.
The Democratic voters of Wyandot county are urged to nominate Oscar J. Weiker of Upper Sandusky for state representative in next Tuesday's primary. He is a farmer and business manager with a long local record, pledging to oppose tax increases and to reduce the current heavy tax burden. He has deep community ties and would represent voters earnestly if elected.
Charles Schuchardt resigns as athletic coach and math teacher to become assistant coach at Heidelberg College in Tiffin. His successor not yet appointed. C M Housley resigns from Bowling Green post as manual training and science teacher. R A Hood of Terre Haute Ind appointed. Hood recently graduated from Indiana State Teachers College.
Lyman Baker son of Jr. Baker will serve at the county farm agent office in Steubenville during the agent's leave of absence. He previously spent time with relatives here and has worked in the county agent's office in Zanesville for the past year.
The Cham bers family reunion was held at the Carey water works park on Sunday with 66 members attending. Officers elected were H Chambers Carey president and Ralph Esterly Findlay secretary treasurer. The group planned to meet next year in Carey on the first Sunday in August.
Secretary M A Mitchell and six others from Upper Sandusky and Carey attend the Older Boys period at Camp Sandusky. Thirty to forty boys participate during this session at Camp Sandusky Altogether forty boys are at camp during this period.
Fifteen or twenty hay buyers from Kentucky visited in town last week seeking hay. The blue grass region is burned over and Kentucky, a large hay shipper, faces a shortage with pastures gone and stock moved long distances to find water.
Visitors to the Carey Times office admire a three bloom auratum lily from Mrs L Moyer's garden. The flowers are unusual in color and design and have no noticeable odor.
The 4-H Happy Hour Sewing Club held its seventh meeting at the homes of Caroline Baker and Ruth Law, with 10 members in Section A and 11 in Section B. Demonstrations covered measurements for an underslip, laundering care, seams types, pattern alterations, decorative stitches, sleeve setting, circular skirt adjustments, and a mitered corner. A booth committee for the county fair was appointed, and social committees were named for the next meeting. Visitors from Michigan attended.
Karl H. Kemnerley writes from the USS Texas at sea after a nine day stay in Honolulu. The ship left July 25 for Seattle, aiming to arrive around August 5, with crew expressing fond memories of Hawaii and plans to return someday.
Announcement of the marriage of Millard Ward from northwest of town and Frances Louden of Toledo. The June 25 ceremony took place at Rev. J. W. Shock's residence in Toledo. The couple reside with Ward's parents Virgil and Mrs. Ward, six miles northwest of Carey. Louden is the daughter of Mrs. Earl Bennett of Toledo. Ward is a Wharton high school 1923 graduate with many local friends.
Relatives received word of the death Friday of Joseph Schmuck at his Buffalo home after a two year illness from paralysis. He was about 75, formerly of Carey, brother of John Schmuck and brother-in-law of Mrs. Mary Stroup of this place. John Schmuck left Monday to attend the funeral services Tuesday.
The 18th Ward and Baker reunion drew about 250 people to the park on Sunday. After a picnic dinner in the pavilion, officers were elected: Bert Brashares president, Frank Copley vice president, Worth Baker secretary-treasurer. The next reunion is planned for the first Sunday in August at the same site.
Vernet Ruf fing had a bad experience when he burned $180 his wife hid in a waste basket at the Ruffing filling station on N Vance street. He did not know the money was in the basket when he burned the paper.
HAL CHARGE OF CREAMERY has been placed in charge of Carey Creamery, succeeding Richard Smith. Mr and Mrs Pes plan to move here soon.

Caleb Sizemore was arrested Monday night after trying to open a safe in Emerine’s meat market front window. He gained entry through a rear door and planned to blast the lock with firecrackers. He confessed a long record in reformatories and jails and was bound over to common pleas court.
Charles G Spencer former Carey resident and Detroit native died Saturday at 6 30 pm after angina pectoris. He previously worked 20 years as secretary treasurer of National Lime Stone Co at Carey and later pursued other work. He served as a 32nd degree Mason and on the Sandusky county draft board during WWI with survivors including Grace Cover his widow and son Jon, plus siblings in Findlay Knoxville and Memphis. Funeral in Findlay conducted by Rev Lindsay and Rev Alexander with burial in Lima.
The Carey City Team defeated East Toledo Boosters 16 to 4 last Sunday in a well played contest. Greer hit a homer, two doubles and a single while Yonkus pitched and the Carey defense was strong throughout.
The annual social at St Marys church in Kirby is set for Tuesday evening August 12 with food including noodle soup and fried spring chicken Amusements and music by a Forest 60 piece band weather permitting the event may move to the following evening.
Will Lehner of Marion buys the barber shop on E Findlay street from WoS LeMott who ends a 45 year tenure in Carey. LeMott began in the same room last January and served faithfully for three years of the 3 year term.
Mr and Mrs Ralph Pahl and their son Tommy spent the weekend at the home of Mrs Pahl's parents Mr and Mrs C C Messmer. Their daughter Virginia is visiting there this week.
