Carey High announces 1959 football practice schedule

Carey High School will begin two a day practices on August 20 with 13 returning lettermen from a 6 2 1 season. Co captains Rex Orians and Chuck Dasher from the all conference first team lead the squad. Scrimmages are set for August 28 Fostoria, September 2 Kenton, September 5 Columbus Grove, and September 8 Vanlue. Season tickets are $3 for four home games with $1 admission.

Chief-Union Publisher Dies in Upper Sandusky

William E. Billy Martin 77 publisher of the Daily Chief-Union died Tuesday at Wyandot Memorial Hospital after a heart attack last spring. He headed U S Construction Co and served as Ohio highway maintenance engineer. He was vice president of First Citizens National Bank and active in Democratic politics. Services set for 2 pm Friday at Bringman and Co Funeral Home with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Albino Robin Found Near Toledo Considered for Zoo

An unusually bright young robin with white plumage fell from its nest Sunday evening and was found by Mrs. Edna Stroub on W Findlay Street. She gave it to her niece Carol Putnam and they consider presenting the albino bird to the Toledo Zoo.

Betts Proposes Debt Reduction Plan

Washington July 31 Eighth District Congressman Jackson E Betts filed a House resolution to cut the public debt gradually via a constitutional amendment requiring two percent of annual U S revenue to be applied to the national debt The plan seeks to prevent repeal or delay and would limit debt increases to presidential recommendation and two thirds House approval except in emergencies Betts argues it would curb inflation and enforce fiscal restraint.

Two Held In Break-ins Here

Melvin Presler and Harold Dean Dyer are jailed in Wyandot county after failing to post $4,000 bond related to two break-ins in Carey. They appeared in Municipal Court at Upper Sandusky, pled guilty to malicious destruction of property with a $100 fine and 30 day jail term, and waived two counts of breaking and entering to await county grand jury. bond set at $2,000 per charge.
