Local notes report executor appointed and typhoid signal

D. Carothers was last Thursday appointed executor of the Joshua Kennerley estate. An epidemic of typhoid fever in Upper Sandusky is noted with about a score of cases. Real estate shows J W Lee selling land to Harley F Vogel for 1500. Six bids for a six mile macadam road in Richland township were opened, National Lime and Stone Co. submitted the low bid of 28537. Odd Fellows at Harpster seek a lodge. a district committee will hear the petition.

Gospel Mass Meeting to Boost Tabernacle Efforts

The gospel mass meeting is set for Saturday night at 8 on the public square to drum up interest in a Tabernacle Gospel Meeting. W O Allen and Capt John George of Fostoria will speak on the recent tabernacle meeting and its outcomes. Capt George will direct the singing. Carey residents and church singers are urged to attend and participate.

New Bank Barn Under Construction North of Carey

A new 40 by 72 foot bank barn is being built on the farm of Mrs. Nicholas Theis, about two and a half miles north of Carey. The foundation will have ten foot concrete walls. J Kinney handles the carpentry and W I Snyder the concrete work.

Carey James Host to Andersons Visit in Carey

Anderson of Findlay stayed with his brother W. C. Anderson one day last week and was joined by his nephew Guy Anderson of Algona Iowa. Guy, Algona superintendent of schools, observed Carey’s town with an eye for flowers and lawn decoration. He praised Carey’s streets, saying portions showed the prettiest town he had seen since leaving home.

Paper Cans Requested to Clean South Vance Street

Businessmen on South Vance Street urge council action to place paper cans at accessible spots to collect scrap paper from Main Street. Rain causes scraps to clog a run manhole near the bridge, risking sidewalk flooding and street mess. They seek a municipal aid measure.

Frenchtown is remodeling its schoolhouse adding a 30 foot porch and new plastering and wainscoting. A new schoolhouse is planned in Biglick township near West Independence with a concrete basement and a frame structure. Both contracts are held by W J H Snyder.

Miss Josephine Thon returns to Chicago with cousins Miss Rose and Frank Simons. They plan to visit relatives in Chicago then go to Milwaukee with George Thom. The trip includes Des Moines and Winterset Iowa as guests of J. M. Johnson.

Bridge repairs at Cresdone Block on Tymochtée Creek

W H Snyder completed a Creodone block-door 16 by 0 to seal the bridge over Tymochtée Creek seven miles south of Kirby on the road to Upper Sandusky, improving passage on the east and west routes.

The Carey council met Monday night with Mayor Angus and Clerk Chambers presiding. Bills paid covered salaries and utilities including Fort Wayne Electric Works for oil transformers and H V R freight coal. A motion to address west end North street lighting and posts was referred to the street committee along with waste baskets for street cleanup and North street ditch work referred to the water course committee.
