The Nutshell School announces the May Dance tomorrow evening at 3 00 a m sponsored by the GAA for grades 7 12. A senior boy and two senior girls will be crowned May King and May Queen chosen by class nominations and GAA vote. The Swing Band will provide part of the music making its first public appearance.
The Mothers of FHA honor their members at a Mother and Daughter Banquet in the church basement. A style show features dresses made in class as entertainment. Miss Marian Shook serves as advisor.
The Band Mothers hosted a Friday night party for the Carey Band on April 23. Cards and dancing entertained guests in a cafeteria decorated with spring colors. Junior and Senior band members, parents, and teachers attended, and thanks were extended to all who helped.
The annual Mother-Daughter Tea took place Sunday April 18 with the April Showers theme. Y-Teens entertained mothers faculty women and faculty wives in a cafeteria transformed with umbrellas silhouettes and a sprinkler of small decorations. Donna Patterson and Betty Ritter presented a musical dialog. Mrs Ruth Laird and Miss Peggy Laird contributed a debate The Grass Grows Greener while Mrs Hazel Cole and Miss Joan Cole sang a musical duet. Janet Putnam delivered a humorous reading and Mary Gaster sang selections matching the theme.
The two American Government classes of Miss Thelma Clagett conducted practice elections featuring county and national official races. Each class created a full procedure including petitions primaries balloting and counting.
Carey students in grades 10 11 and 12 took a Cooperative Test on Wednesday April 21 during the 3rd and 4th periods. The exam covered recent science politics social developments and world affairs and results will be kept on record.
Carey firefighters will demonstrate the efficiency of the Crawford township fire truck and equipment Monday at 6 30 PM in Carey Memorial Park. The public is invited to attend.
On Friday April 30 at 8:00 p m pupils from grades 2 to 6 present two operettas The Magic Tree by grades 2 and 3 and Laughing Star of Zuni by grades 4 to 6 The 1st grade rhythm band performs between shows Admission is 50 and 25 cents.
Forty two cases heard in Carey police court in early 1948. Violations included parking 14, village traffic 9, state patrol 4, intoxication 9, disorderly 6. Total fines and forfeitures $482.40. Mayor W. Wagner urges safe driving and drinking restraint.
Carey public schools schedule a pupil day on Friday April 30. Eligible students for next year visit the Colonel Crawford building or the West building at 1:00 p m to experience what school is like.
Al Burley's No 7 Show Unit entertained a large Moose crowd Sunday night. Burley served as master of ceremonies assisted by Jack Cornet the comedy magician and the Morfan Sisters singing team.
The Wesleyan Guild of the Methodist Sunday school will sponsor a rummage sale Saturday May 8 from noon until 9 pm in the church basement. Donations are appreciated and will be called for if Mrs W H Huston is notified by phone 2367.
Cub Pack No 58 announces a May meeting for parents and cubs on Wednesday evening May 5 at 6 30 in the Methodist church. A potluck supper will be served. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and bring a covered dish and table service.
The Carey Band Mothers club will hold its final meeting of the season on Monday at 8 o clock in the high school. An entertainment program will be followed by a lunch service. The club will resume meetings next fall.

Mrs. Robert Mott will host the J. T. club at her home northeast of Carey this Thursday afternoon. The gathering brings together club members for an afternoon event.
The Bluffton College Vesper Choir directed by Prof. Russell A. Lantz will sing a sacred concert at Carey Memorial EB Church on Sunday May 2 at 8 00 pm. The 60 voice choir formed in 1928 travels for concerts including an annual spring tour and features nine states and one foreign country among its members. Arlene Rickle is a choir member and a free will offering will help cover expenses.
Carey Kiwanis April 1926 program featured Mary Gaster Judy Dible and Virginia Meek of Carey High School in songs and instrumentals. Dr Reid Burson gave an informative talk on The Medical Aspects of Atomic Warfare noting startling facts and cautious optimism about possession. The April 19 meeting planned a one act play by the Carey High Speech Department.
The New York Central railroad sponsors a six session public relations course to improve service and public relations. The first meeting ran 7 30 to 9 30 pm Monday in the supervisor's office led by R B Hamler of Tiffin a former Carey freight agent. Attendants came from Tiffin Kenton and Carey.
Myers Grocery club opened the Hancock and Wood county league with a 13 to 8 victory over Findlay Clothing Store. Carey pitchers include M Snyder winning, Dick Lab homered to break a tie. De Amicis Heck also homered. Carey opens league at Hoytville May 23. Next home game May 9 and May 2 visit Van Buren.
Carl T. Prusnek announces medals for American Area European African Middle Eastern and Asiatic Pacific veterans. Eligible servicemen must serve under honorable conditions with period dates set. distribution begins June 1. Posthumous awards automatic. full details to follow.

Carey Boys 4-H plans a May 3 gathering at 7 30 PM in Carey High School with guest Fred Grimm Wyandot county agent showing moving pictures. Boys aged 10 and up invited to join. cats to follow. Norman Heck reporter.

Arden Doppler pitched the Blue Devils to a 2 0 victory over New Riegel last Friday afternoon. Bill Yingling stood out at shortstop handling many chances flawlessly as Carey prepares for two games this week against McCutchenville and Salem High at 4 00 p.m. The public is invited.
Members of the local review of the WBA are invited to Miss Alice Kinsinger’s home at 502 Findlay Street on Friday evening April 30 at 8 o’clock. There will be a business session followed by a potluck supper. Last Friday’s meeting drew the attendance prize and a social was held with contest winners Mrs Sylvester Pahl Mrs J T Stombaugh and Mrs Richard Hunter.
The Church of God at 120 Patterson Street will host a steak supper Saturday evening May 1 at the home of Mrs Beulah Salyer, also of 120 Patterson Street. The public is invited to attend and support the church event.

Fred T Lavery proprietor of the Hitching Post at Vanlue announces the installation of a large new soda fountain with all modern improvements this week for patrons.
The Ohio Aberdeen Angus Breeders Association will hold its annual convention and picnic at Earl Burson’s Carey area farm on June 20 with about 300 expected attendees. A barbecue dinner is planned with a chef from Columbus. BE Greiner and J B Mec Corkle will attend. Burson is a director and local dealer. A cattle show and sale are set for Ohio State Fairgrounds Columbus on May 3 with 36 breeders consigning animals. show starts 9 am and sale 1 pm.
Carey Farmers' Community club held its annual election at the Knights of Columbus hall. Elected: President E Gottfried, vice president Romig, secretary treasurer Delmer Lortz. executive committee Krupp Mott Baker Brown. Dr Reid Burson spoke on atomic energy safety while Dr Clarence Donaldson showed livestock farm visuals. Eileen Mott sang with Phyllis Stombaugh.
Mrs A C Buckingham of Fostoria spent the weekend in Carey. Several families hosted relatives and friends, including Mr and Mrs Allen Gibson and son David with Mrs Ethel Phipps, and Mrs Francis Corbin visiting her sister Mrs Forest Wringle. Others mentioned include Mrs Clara Wallace, Mr and Mrs J J McCabe's illness, and local trips to Lake Wales and Columbus.
Carey High School hosts a public demonstration of driving tests on Thursday April 29 at 1 40 p m The program begins with a 30 minute lecture and film in the auditorium then moves outside to show stopping tests on a traffic free block Six students and teachers participate with police drivers for high speed tests The public is urged to attend the event on EB South Street
A freight car jumped the track near the coal docks around 2 p.m. blocking rail and street traffic on the New York Central Lines and E South street. One car derailed a box car, knocked over a telephone box, and damaged a switch. A Bellefontaine wrecker moved three cars, delaying the westbound passenger to 1:58 p.m. from Berwick to Martel. The cause was likely a defective wheel.
Calvin Platt, 22, of Carey, is hospitalized with a fractured shoulder after the car he rode in hit the Blanchard river bridge on Infirmary road near U S 224 at 7 p m last Thursday. Driver Linus L. Krom, 21, of Fostoria, escaped injuries and said braking grabbed, pulling him onto the east bridge side. State highway patrol investigated.
Mr and Mrs S W McChesney purchased the modern home at 604 Clay Street built by George Greil. The McChesneys will move in soon. Greil family will leave for Lorain. Sale handled by A WN Stevens, realtor.
