Efforts to fund transport for surviving troops failed, but dedication in the summer is planned with broad survivor representation. Obituary of George Opper of Wyandot County Ohio
George Opper born July 5 1831 in Hecan Comstat Germany died April 14 1909 aged 77 9 9. He came to America in 1863 settling Crestline Ohio and married Dorotha Bowers in Mansfield in 1857. Survived by nine children sixteen grandchildren and one deceased daughter Sarah. Funeral by Rev R Bowers was held at St Paul west of town with interment in Zion Bloom Cemetery. Odd Fellows Vanlue lodge conducted pallbearers OO P Fickle Wayne Crawford John Alspach Calvin Clark Frank Greek and Doctor Gorsueh.
