Monday chapel opened with Blest Be the Tie That Binds sung by students. Doris Ruehle led devotionals and Evelyn Hosafros played two piano bells. A Senior class play Say It With Taffy was presented by several members.
Last Friday afternoon the Carey and Crestline debate teams met with Carey losing by small margins. Judge Paul Keyser of Marysville presided at Carey while Mansfield High School coach Mr Bonzer judged Crestline. Musical performances followed with Jack Heck on cornet Evelyn Hosafros piano and the high school octette.
Bluffton Kenton Carey debate to be held next Tuesday evening April 22 with Carey visiting Kenton and Bluffton. Carey affirmative team lists Reid Bachar Blanche Mitten Alice Ogg Evelyn Vaughn alternating. negative team includes Charles Hoff Helen Gottfried Eloise Bame Genevieve Jacoby alternating. Carey to send musical numbers to Kenton. Bluffton to provide several here. Debate begins at 8:00 pm with a small admission fee. Public invited.
The P T A meeting was held Monday evening in the high school auditorium. Elected officers: President Mrs W S Huffman, Vice President Mrs George Perkins, Secretary Mrs Cecil Laird, Treasurer Harry Bowman. The high school octette sang, and a play Say It With Taffy was performed by Lorraine Schrading, Avonell Robison, Robert McDaniel, Austin Walter and Edward Riester.
Members of the agriculture class are spraying the orchard of J. T Myers located west of town, applying treatments as part of classroom work.
Sixty four eighth grade pupils sat the state examination last Friday with sources from a parochial school thirty two from Miss Myers room and the rest from rural district schools indicating a varied student mix.
Homer England has returned to school following several weeks of illness.
Ted Vaughn returns to school after an absence due to mumps, resuming classes and activities as normal.
Holy Week services draw marked interest at the ME church. Rev R J Turrell delivers The Crucifixion in Carey this evening, with choir and special musical numbers by Mrs S W McChesmey and Mrs Maybelle Burnard.
The Jennie Larmonth Missionary Society will meet Monday evening at the home of Mrs Howard DeWitt. Mrs Lu M Pullen will assist the hostess, and Mrs A F Byers and Mrs Wesley Bishop will be the leaders.
The American Legion Auxiliary will host a pie social in the club room on Thursday April 24 at 8 00 p m. Each lady is asked to bring a pie and both the American Legion and the Auxiliary are invited with no admission.
The third division of the Luthér aan Ladies Aji will hold a market and bake sale at the rest room on Saturday April 19 beginning at 10 00 a m.
The annual Union Good Friday service will be held at Memorial Evangelical Church from 1 30 to 3 00 p m with Memorial Evangelical Methodist Episcopal and Christ Lutheran churches participating. The program includes piano preludes hymns scripture lessons prayers meditations and seven spoken words with special music by a Lutheran Male Quartet and various pastors.
A barn and hay stack on Alvin Kemerley's farm south of town burned Saturday night around 5 30. The fire, of unknown origin, destroyed the barn, bay and machinery, one sheep and two lambs. Contents were insured. barn was not. Carey fire department failed to contain the blaze before it spread to nearby structures. Mr and Mrs Kennerley were away. Sparks from the blaze set fire to a neighboring summer house, straw stack and chicken coop, but the department saved all buildings there using chemicals.
Miss Julia Kinsinger daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Kinsinger Canton and Mr Earl S Bogen of Columbus were married Saturday at 10 am by Rev Edmund Mark Lewis at the Methodist Episcopal church Canton. The couple left for a new apartment in Bexley Columbus.

National Lime and Stone Co employees and their families are invited to a safety meeting at the Strand theatre this Thursday evening. Motion pictures and Vaudeville acts will precede a safety talk by a state speaker, an annual event growing in local interest.

The C K of O will hold a social at their hall on Tuesday evening April 22 from 12 to 3. Members, families and friends are invited. Thomas Noon serves as lecturer.
The Columbus Tiffin Oil and Gas Co with Ezra Leyman of Tiffin plans to start drilling late this week on the H C Wonder farm located 244 miles north of town.

The Wyandot County grand jury met Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Judge Earl B. Carter charged witnesses for several cases. Seven cases were heard, five indictments returned including against David and Ray Nolan on two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses. John B. Fox was indicted for carrying concealed weapons. Frank X. Owned charged with driving intoxicated. jurors listed include Mrs. A. H. Winters and Verna Kiiland among others.
The Church of Our Lady of Consolation presents Holy Thursday services at 8:00 a.m. high mass and 7:30 p.m. Rosary. Good Friday masses and devotions from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Stations of the Cross. Holy Saturday 6:30 a.m. blessing of the new fire and baptismal water, then high mass. Easter Low Mass at 7:30 a.m. and High Mass at 10:00 a.m. with a choir program led by Mr. Ralph Brown and Miss Jessie Roll accompanied by an orchestra.
Preparatory and Holy Communion services are tonight at 7 30. Easter Sunday features a 7 00 morning service, 9 15 Sunday school, and 10 30 worship with baptism, member reception and communion. Easter 7 30 cantata Penitence Pardon and Peace by Maunder, plus Seven Words From the Cross by DuBois. public invited.
Easter Day services include a 6:00 a.m. Sunrise Communion, 9:15 a combined church and Sunday school program, with a 10:00 auditorium program. Children sing, baptism and reception of members occur, and Easter music with a pastor’s message follow. In lieu of evening service, the congregation joins Lutherans for a cantata.
The PTA hosts a benefit card party at the high school auditorium on Tuesday evening May 6 at 8 00. Committees led by General chairman Mrs W N Johnson tickets Mrs W S Huffman and others oversee refreshments prizes publicity and admissions. An admission fee of 50 cents is charged and both men and women are invited.

The Poverty Run school ends on Tuesday April 22 with a day of games and a program. Former teachers and pupils are invited and each family should bring a basket. H. F. Davidson, Teacher.

In a Biscyrus Telegraph Forum case the Court of Common Pleas ruled a justice of the peace erred in denying access to a public court record. The opinion emphasizes a newspaper’s duty to transparency and the public’s safeguard against misuse, warning against weakening oversight. The Ohio Newspaper.
The Pemberville Board of Public Affairs has no printed rules or regulations in the town paper as required by law. The Leader notes that past actions may have included rules and rates, but without public printing the process remains illegal and unsafe.
Twenty boys met with leader Jerry Svee at the high school as Carey starts a new Boy Scout troop. The Kiwanis Club sponsors the troop with church representatives on the committee. M. A. Mitchell of the Y M C A helped inaugurate the movement, and enthusiasm is high for a first class troop.
The Big Four held a claim prevention meeting at Carey with R. M Carter as chairman. Attendees included L. A. Father Claude spoke on the Meaning of the Passion at the Kiwanis Club noon meeting held at the Galt Hotel dining room. Twenty eight members attended as hymns were sung. The next gathering will be a combined Kiwanis and Community Club event on Thursday evening April 24.
Plans outline a star route mail service between Carey and Vanlue with departures from Carey at 9 09 am and 5 39 pm and return trips from Vanlue at 10 25 am and 5 55 pm. Each trip allocates twenty minutes for the schedule.

Risingsun Village School district selects Prairie Depot National Bank as depository for school funds after bidding .11 percent on daily balance for active and inactive funds. Sun Savings Bank of Risingsun offered 4 percent on inactive and 2 percent on active funds. Wayne and Farmers banks abstained or bid strategically. The choice follows legal advertising requirements despite local rivalry and about $250 annual difference.
The Tiffin Advertiser reports doubt about holding a Memorial day program this year. Indifference last year crippled the event in Tiffin and Bloomville with World War II veterans scarce and Civil War and Spanish American vets few. Public interest must rise soon or the observance may cease. As yet no plans exist and the day approaches in a few weeks.

Beech Grove Ladies Aid Society gathered last Thursday with Mrs EB E Brown. Members present included Mrs Hiram Pierce Mrs Henry Nye Miss Luella Lahr Rev and Mrs Strete Mrs Lee Wentz and others as they sewed and enjoyed a noon pot luck. The May meeting will be hosted by Mrs Hiram Pierce.
Firefighters answered Friday afternoon to Gust Wheeler’s restaurant in the east end where a hole burned in the roof. Sparks from a locomotive set fire to brush dumped in the hollow near Hocking Valley station, aided by a strong wind.
Ruth Carr of 1742 Ottawa Drive Covington Kentucky filed for divorce from William Carr of 16 Forest Avenue claiming neglect less than two months after their February 18 marriage in Covington.
Fifty members attended the Communion Breakfast at the Plgrim House after the Palm Sunday mass for the K of C. Fr Paul Vollrath delivered a short talk on Catholic Youth and the event followed the communion service.

Albert Adelsperger died Tuesday at his home on N Vdinée Street after a five day illness from intestinal fluid peritonitis. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 80 at Gees Lutheran Church with Rev Paul R Louser officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria. He was born September 22 1857 in Hopewell township Seneca county and died at 72 years 6 months 23 days. He married Mary Alice Keyes October 18 1882. she survives along with seven children: Mrs Clarence Burton Fremont, Mrs Clair Shiteman McCutchenville, Rosege W. Adelsperger and Earl Raymond Adelsperger Detroit, Mrs C J Ruffing Carey, Kenneth Marion Adelsperger at home. Nora Gertrude preceded in death. He leaves five sisters and four brothers, with several others deceased. A member of Christ Lutheran church for 17 years, he served on the church council and spent most of life farming near Berwick before moving to Carey in 1913. The community mourns a fine citizen and kindly man.
Jack Patrick of Kentucky appeared before Judge William F. Duncan and a jury in Han cock county on a charge of forging and uttering a worthless check. State witnesses testified Patrick instructed co-defendants how to draw and cash the check at a Vanilli e meat market. Patrick, who cannot read or write, worked at a Findlay quarry company before his arrest March 1 and lived near Carey. The jury, composed of local residents, was sworn and the case submitted after 3 p m. Tuesday's Findlay Courier.
Carey W B A district meeting at U K of Q hall featured Nellie C V Heppard of Akron as guest of honor. About a hundred guests from Tiffin Findlay Fostoria and Sycamore attended. A banquet, Easter decor, and a large class initiation preceded plans for Carey to lead the district in the June Chicago Grand Pageant with fifty thousand participants. Findlay invited the district to meet there in June.
John W H Myers expresses sincere thanks to friends and relatives for kindness shown during his illness.
