Scholarship Awards Crown Top Eighth Graders in Carey District

Official but unofficial state eighth grade test results place top students on Carey district honor roll. Scores range from 169 to 131 with perfect score 200. names include Mary Elizabeth Haford and Harold Krout among others from public and parochial schools. Senior scholarship results from Upper Sandusky held March 23 also list top four quartile scorers with scores up to 297 on a 400-point scale.

Palm Sunday Communion Service at Methodist Church

Carey Dodge Motors reorganizes semi pro club for year season

At a Sunday meeting the former Semi Pro ball club reorganized with Dave Orians as manager Ralph Kurtz as treasurer and Robert McDaniel as booking agent. The new name Carey Dodge Motors was selected and the lineup largely mirrors two years ago with Orians at first England at second Donelson at short and several players contending for infield and outfield spots. Dell Parsell will pitch with Cr Keckler as assistant and a dependable catcher to be decided. First practice is next Sunday and opening day is May 5. Admission stays 25 cents for men and 10 cents for women.

Carey area Good Friday services join at Methodist church

Union Good Friday services in the Carey area will be held Friday afternoon from 1 to 3 o'clock at the Methodist church. Local pastors will be assisted by Dr Caldwell of Findlay First Evangelical, Rev Stanley Miller of Findlay Howard Methodist, and Rev Knox Roberts of Nevada Lutheran. A union choir from three churches will lead the music. The full order of worship will appear next week.

Major operation at Findlay hospital

Mrs. Jerome Weinandy was taken to Findlay Home and Hospital Friday afternoon and underwent a major operation Saturday morning performed by Dr. J. W. Hartman of Findlay with assistance from Dr. S. R. Bame of Carey. Mr. Weinandy and Mrs. Edmund Pahl were present during the procedure.

Settlement of sewage damage suits yields city savings

Bowling Green city solicitor reports a settlement in sewage pollution damage suits totaling 165000 dollars for 4800 dollars. Sixteen farmers from along the Portage river between Pemberville and Scotch Ridge filed the suits last year. School Movie Demonstration Shows Local Activities

A grade building displayed a movie Tuesday morning for several classes. The sociology class viewed local high school activities from two years ago while the biology and eighth grade science classes attended a film on fish enemies and their attack methods. Monday representatives from Carey high school attended the district Hi-Y conference at Fostoria School where problems were discussed in the high school auditorium. The recreational session occurred at the YMCA and a banquet was held at a local church. Man Burned Stirring Fire At Gulf Station

Sunday evening Frederick Crist was badly burned about the head and shoulders at the Gulf filling station on N Patterson street while trying to kindle a fire. The blaze, though thought extinguished, suddenly flared and splashed gasoline on his clothing.

The Carey District Boy Scouts hold a Court of Honor Thursday evening April 11 at 800 o'clock in the high school auditorium.
