Buried Treasure Tales Around Mission San Juan Capistrano
Local legend ties Hippolyte Bouchard, also known as Andre Paul, to a 1818 raid along the California coast. Despite warnings, treasure hunts persisted, aided by padres, suspicions, and shifting currencies. Don Tryon, archivist, signs off.
