Rancho Mission Viejo donated 1 million toward the Mission Hospital Emergency Room expansion. A dedication ceremony Tuesday featured Richard ONeill, chairman, and Tony Morse, CEO, presiding over the unveiling. The ER now sees over 50,000 patients annually in a space designed for 25,000.
San Diego Gas & Electric will decide in two to four weeks where to build a substation in south Orange County. Mayor John Gelff and city officials expressed opposition, saying the project offers no local benefit, while utility officials argue the substation is needed to accommodate regional growth.
