Canton Hit by 40 Mile Wind and Citywide Flood

A severe wind driven rainstorm struck Canton Saturday night at 7 causing the Airdome wall to collapse and plunging the city into darkness. One inch of rain fell in under an hour as 200 street light systems were burned out and telephones and telegraph services were disrupted. Trees uprooted, streets flooded, streetcars halted, and evacuations occurred as residents sought shelter amid a near panic.
