Clarke Slated for Federal Judgeship in Cleveland District
Cleveland attorney John H. Clarke is named as the likely successor to Federal Judge William L Day in the Cleveland district. The announcement could come this week with Attorney General McReynolds and President Wilson involved. Hogan and Lentz, both on the Democratic ticket for U S senator, would then face off if Clarke is appointed. Probate Judge Kirchbaum, Stark County candidate, has support from Congressman Whitacre and the Stark County Bar.

Exeter New Hampshire June 20 Mrs Henry Folsom was arrested near here as she stood over her husband’s body in the road between Exeter and Newmarket with a revolver in her hand. Police say she confessed claiming she killed to stop him from marrying another woman.

Comedy stage life diverges from real family neglect case
J J Cody alias J Porter of Cleveland testified in Canton after a Grand Opera House show when a Cleveland juvenile court officer produced a judge’s letter to arrest him for neglecting two daughters aged 2 and 13. Porter’s divorce alimony of 25 dollars monthly has not been paid since February and his wife, strained by boarders and sewing for neighbors, has become destitute. Porter claims lack of funds.

A Philadelphia letter released by George Nill says 2000 pounds of dynamite were stolen weeks earlier at Gatun on the Isthmus of Panama and that an attempt was made to blow up the spillway locks. The letter came from Nathan Gilbert, foreman of electrical installation at Gatun.

San Quentin California June 20 On motion of Director Warren L Porter the state pardon board denied an application to parole Abraham Ruef former political boss of San Francisco. Ruef is serving a 14 year term for bribery tied to United railroad franchises. He did not appear in person and the board met in executive session.
