Germans Reach Within A Mile Of Oise River At Ribecourt

Paris dispatch reports German forces advanced to within a mile of the Oise river at Ribecourt and four miles of Compiegne, with gains along a five mile center front before French forces halted their push. French claims include recapturing Mery and holding on the west wing. The center and right fronts saw heavy fighting and German efforts to reach the Aronde river and Antoval were repulsed.

United Press reports May troop transport set a record with around 250000 men, pushing total American shipments over 700000. German Mother Mourns Soldier Son Killed in France

Mrs. Peter Frentzell of Canton Ohio received word her son Private Joe Frentzell 25 formerly a molder in Canton shops was killed in action in France on June 3 while serving with Co M 125th U S Infantry of the American Expeditionary Forces. He had earlier served on the Mexican border and enlisted four and a half years ago. The mother, a German immigrant, declared her son died for America and expressed gratitude and resolve amid tears. He is survived by his mother and one brother Michael.
