Babcock may contest for the new ninth ward, Amos Fete seeks his old seat on the Democratic ticket, and Homar H. Hill filed for renomination on the Republican ticket. He urges unity and notes danger signals from state government that could cost governor, senator, and several congressmen next year. Meanwhile railroad officials report that “punching the clock” under war controls cost U.S. railroads about 6.45 million dollars in six months due to extra weekly time records and minimum pay rules.
Dr. H. M. Schuffell and a fellow physician escaped injury when their coupe collided with a motor truck on the Canton Cario road. The car overturned three times after the truck cut in from Greentown road. A passing motorist brought Dr. Schuffell home and he resumed practice Friday morning.

The Ohio Electric Railway company placed in effect new passenger tariffs approved by the Public Utilities Commission. The new rates run nearly 8 cents per mile affecting Tim a Zanesville Dayton Newark Springfield and other points on the line with no protests filed. The commission also ordered Massillon Gas and Electric to cut wholesale electricity from .0175 to .017 per kilowatt hour.
Washington June 8 The Porter peace resolution was reported favorably to the house today by the house foreign affairs committee with Democrats voting solidly against the final action. It is planned to bring the resolution to passage in the house next Thursday.
Canton YMCA officials award Ross G. Witters the general contract for two new branch buildings set to break ground Monday. Sub contracts go to Crystal Park Heating and Plumbing and Walters Electric. Buildings to rise on Carnahan ay and S8th st NE and Navarre rd and Lawn py SW with gym, offices, social rooms, reading rooms, classrooms and billiard facilities.
