Torrent Destroys the Cripple Creek Road
Torrential rain along Beaver and Wilson creeks caused a wall of water up to ten feet high washing away the Canon City Cripple Creek toll road section near Pot gulch. Boulders weighing 50 to 75 tons moved, bridges and embankments erased, stockholders’ property losses total several thousand dollars, and ranchers face hardship without the road.
