Golden Jubilee committee reports plans for the October 11 Catholic Parish celebration are advancing, including a team of oxen for the parade and a comparison of modern ambulances with historic hospital horse-drawn services. Commercial Club officers elected: L Van Perkins president, Leland Green vice president, E C Cole treasurer, secretary to be chosen. Engineers survey underpass routes and two Cameron to Elm Creek bridge connections. city council supports paving the right of way.
Dr S Burns Beaver returns to Cameron dentistry amid Milam County roots and pioneer family lineage. A Cameron native, he graduated in 1921 and brings extensive experience to open modern offices by Monday October 2nd in the Denson Building adjacent to Morrison law offices.
E C Cole local Southern Pacific Agent announces immediate changes to passenger service. No more mixed trains, a straight passenger train operates. Northbound arrives Cameron 10 08 am and Waco 12 15 pm. Southbound leaves Wiaco 7 pm and arrives Cameron 8 56 pm.
Rev J P Love of All Saints Episcopal church is in Houston this week for a Diocese meeting and will return to Cameron Thursday to lead a relief workers gathering that night. Mrs N C Smith and her brother Nathan McGehee of Houston visit Cameron with their parents and sisters.
Schlitz beer, once famous in Milwaukee, returns to Milam County under a new deal. Cameron Flat and Grocery Company handles distribution. Mr. Kestenbaum notes securing Schlitz rights for the county as the brand finds old friends and earns new ones.
Mrs. Kittie Mays, 54, died Thursday morning at 6 at her home in Maysfield after a year long illness. She was the daughter of the late Rev. J. K. P. Newton, former pastor of the Presbyterian church in Cameron, and Mrs. E. J. Newton of Maysfield. Funeral plans were not set and an obituary will appear in next week's Herald.

Milam county Red Cross chairman Rev. J. P. Love says storm relief contributions remain open until Monday when a national representative visits Cameron. Total gifts reach 58.75 with 17.26 from Thorndale, 10.00 from Rockdale, and 31.00 from Cameron.
The Vallejo Evening News reports Roy Kirkland was rescued by a U S naval crew after his boat capsized off Mare Island breakwater in San Pablo Bay. A storm tossed the craft, causing leaks and near sinking. Kirkland freed himself from clothes, plugged hull leaks, and was saved by a tugboat. He is the brother of Mrs Albert Schiller.
B F Bonds was summoned to Rockdale on account of the death of his brother-in-law, Robert Williams, who died at midnight Wednesday September 27.
Cameron citizens gift a new electrically lighted football field for Yeomen to host Giddings in a Friday night dedication game at 8 o clock. The ceremony includes a midnight matinee of This day and Age at the Cameron Theatre and a parade by the high school band.
In Cameron District Court a jury spared Jim Nelson prison for killing Sandy Hall by suspending a five year sentence. Nelson stabbed Hall on April 22 after a rent dispute involving a white property owner. Former criminal attorney Jack Lewis defended Nelson while S. M. Burns prosecuted for the state.
A total of $156,515.50 in checks for Milam county farmers who plowed up cotton had been received at the offices of Geo. Banzhaf, county agent, by Thursday noon. In all about $512,000 will be due farmers of the county. There were 2540 contracts signed. Checks are arriving rapidly. farmers will be notified when their checks arrive and may call at Mr. Banzhaf’s office once notified.
Cameron honors John C. Young of Texas Power & Light and Bob Terry for arranging community support and funding for a new electrically lighted football stadium. Citizens purchased tickets to fund field lighting while the company aided the project, prompting a formal dedicatory ceremony Friday night. Melissa B. Oneal plans to teach in Sneads after leaving Cameron.
The Business and Professional Women's Club led by Miss Ann Stallworth has leased the lower floor of the old North College Street school for club rooms. They plan to furnish the space, hold the first meeting on Tuesday evening October 8, cooperate with the American Legion on the top floor, and dedicate efforts to beautifying the grounds and establishing a Milam County Museum with Indian relics and Legion artifacts, with plans for a library and community center activities in Cameron.
Milam county farms will participate in a co operative market announced by Miss Bertha Fae Strange county home demonstration agent The market aims to mirror national farmer marketing movements with offerings that include cakes cookies yeast bread and a variety of fruits vegetables and poultry Products will be graded for buyer advantage and the venture is sponsored by home demonstration clubs with central collection points for products
