Milam County Road Tax Provisions and Duties
The act imposes a four dollar annual road tax due by February first to Milam County. Paying exempts the payer from road work for one year. The tax collector and treasurer manage funds and apportionment by precinct. Failure to pay triggers mandatory road work under the road commissioner, with summons and limits on days and distances. Substitutes and payments to avoid work are allowed under specified terms. Penalties include misdemeanor charges up to 25 dollars for noncompliance.
