49th Armored Activated For Oct 15 Duty

Milam's Company C of the Third Medium Tank Battalion part of Texas' 49th National Guard Armored Division is ordered into regular Army duty. 66 Guardsmen preparing for new roles in Texas units

Milam's Company C, Third Medium Tank Battalion leaves Cameron for Camp Polk La on October 15 to active duty for about a year. Sixty six guardsmen, including original members Pete Kunz and Denson Crouch, will face civilian obligations and reassignment as they join up with 10 000 Texans heading to the training camp. Cameron firemen fought two recent fires. One at Cotton Bryant’s on September 12 started by a wiring short in a neon sign causing rafters to burn. The second blaze at Emil Sebesta estate involved an empty barn with roof loss on September 13.
