Cotton Loses Five Cents A Bale On Government Forecast

Prices fell five cents a bale after a government forecast of 11 500 000 bales for the U S crop. The market recovered some losses before noon as the August estimate was 200 000 bales higher. Trade showed cotton above 9 cents per pound when the report released. Forecasts suggest a lower next report amid unfavorable crop conditions and flood damage in Texas. Milam County expected about 40 000 bales, offset by higher prices.
