The Texas Election Bureau reports Ma Ferguson won the Democratic nomination for governor after the latest returns. The piece defends fair voting and warns against convention moves that could undermine the primary result, referencing The Dallas News and concerns over Sterling delegates.
Final unofficial tabulation from 951,102 votes across 254 counties shows Miriam A. Ferguson leading Gov. R. S. Sterling by 2398 votes for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination. Official counts follow eight days later with county returns to be certified by the state committee in Lubbock.
The Milam county ginning total for 1932 reached 716 bales counting half bales, versus 607 bales for 1931 through August 16. Hot dry weather spurred earlier harvest in 1932. Report supplied to The Werald by Grover H. Albert, special agent for the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Statistics.

Burkett 379 772 and Strong 447 976 for Place 3. Additional tabulations due to Governor race closeness will accompany the official canvas.
Milam County Democratic Executive Committee will meet Saturday to decide by casting lots the designation for Executive Committeeman at Jones Prairie. Four names were on the runoff ballot after the August 27 primary. no candidate had a majority, with Stidham 33, McKinney 31, Wiese 24, Crocker 3 votes.
In Cameron on Sunday the Flag Golf Tournament concluded with 25 participants. Bob Terry won first prize, Will Vogel of Rockdale took second, Fred Bethea of Rockdale third, Dr. James Watson of Cameron fourth, and Ed Manning of Cameron fifth.
Dale and E A Camp win a small majority over Hugo McCawley at Conoley. Knox-Conoley elects over R M Beard Jr for executive committeeman. Joe Barber is re-elected to the committee from Watson Branch, defeating C E Scales.
Mr and Mrs W S Clark and their son Billie drove to Belt on Sunday to visit friends and enjoy the outing.
Governor Sterling declares he has won the nomination and will receive the State Convention approval in Lubbock on September 13. He accuses primary illegal voting, citing reliable information from many sections. Dan Moody concedes nothing as speculation grows over the election tangle.
Milam County voters backed Ma Ferguson by a wide margin in the gubernatorial race, casting 35638 for Ferguson to 2161 for Sterling as polls closed. The county carried 40 of 49 boxes with strong showings in Gause Milano and Rockdale, while Cameron area votes reflected Sterling strength but Ferguson still made a notable showing.
Cameron schools ready for fall term with Yoe high in first class condition. Textbooks received and to be distributed. Out of town teachers arriving, registration quick. 290 students transferred to Cameron district, total enrollment expected near 1600. Miss Ethel Skelton noted.
J A Joyce age 89 died August 10 at his Nashville home. He served as a Methodist church pillar since youth and helped sustain the local church on his grandfather's old plantation. He was blind for ten years yet cheerful, with a wide circle of friends including Cameron visitors. His grandsons served as pallbearers.
Safeway Stores opens a new modern food store in Cameron on Main Street this Friday. The Cameron location joins about 300 Texas stores led by district manager F. F. Askman. S. L. Williams is the manager with R. B. Alexander as market manager. Safeway touts a money back guarantee and a complete stock of nationally advertised goods.
Jesse James of Thorndale defeats Henry B. Krenek of Lincoln in the Lee county runoff for the 65th District Representative. James totals 7237 votes to 4022 for Krenek, as results show Milam Lee and Burleson counties voting by county with listed tallies.
Judge Brewster of Bell county presides in Cameron as John Watson recovers in Dallas. Jeter Hugo McCawley and John P. O Neil of Burlington named jury commissioners to select grand and petit juries for the nine to ten week September term. Next week may see cases against J C Tucker linked to the Cameron State Bank failures.
